What ho WOYWWers; this is my desk after my day off..I haven't been near it at all for a day, in an attempt to restore mojo. Had a nice morning in Winchester, and had coffee and lunch at the Cathedral Refectory with Jan and Chrissie (you know her - half of the Less is More Challenge blog). Yeah? Told you.
Horrible light, but hey, it's that time of year. You can see abandoned glasses, tray of little pots of glitter and half hearted attempt at a 'contemporary' Christmas card. Unusually for me, you can see only 2 pairs of scissors (just) and the new acrylic drawers perched right there in front of me. Jan asked me if I'd like them or could I re-home them. I decided to stick them on my desk for a while, see if I had a use.....that's them absorbed then, thank you LLJ!
Maggie (Silvercrafter) won the draw for the book following the post: A review, entirely Solicited. It wasn't a technical or scientific draw, and there's not even a bunch of strips of paper in a bowl to photo and show you. Here's the scoop: I numbered the list of names. Then I shouted to Mr Dunnit 'Pick a number between 1 and 23'. He gave me the look. You know the one that says 'you're a nutter, so I'm not even going to bother to ask'. And then he said 'Fourteen'. And Maggie 's name was in space number 14. That's how it happened.
Edit: OMGee, had to come back and tell you - the counter says this is the 600th post..! My word, I've had a lot to say!
Show us what you're doing this cool autumnal day then. Photo your desk, upload it to your blog and link it here. Lots of us will visit. This week, for a change, I'm going to start in the higher numbers....it seems fair to me.

ohoo I think this is a first, I'm #4! Lovely crafty desk, (lovely desk last week too, don't know what happen to my comments, spotted that last night but is was too dark to see the keyboard, blame the funny pills I was on...luckily I've come off them now...) Loving the paper, I had some with smaller type last year, which took me three years to use, still haven't found a replacement yet, (shame we have to use them!) I love your tree, far better than the one I tried to make last year, which got filed in the bin!
ReplyDelete((Lyn))
Love your Christmas tree - inspiration for sure - and congrats on all of your chattiness, lol!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your book review - I just received the same one to review, plus another - I was going to post the pics today but my post was already getting rather long-winded!

I first thought that's the Eiffel Tower on your card... I wasn't wearing my glasses... But wouldn't that be an idea, the ET with jingle bells...

Hello. Love the contemporary Christmas card. Think I shall, ahem, steal the idea!
ReplyDeleteI've strived to be numero zero and now I've made it. Was a real surprise and had to go back to bed for 15 minutes and then come back to make sure it hadn't jumped (as it does so many times).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 600th post and congratulations on your "C" card which I must start to think about.
Hugs, Neet x
Wednesday is my day to catch up with Julia! Congrats on your book review...that is really cool! who would have "thunk-ded"!!!
ReplyDeleteYour contemporary Christmas card looks like it will be very fun as well!
I'm so loving the contempory crimbo card, can't wait to see it finished. Loved the book review (just doing a catch up lol). Absorbed, yep that sounds about right when new bits make it into a craft room lol. Kezzy x
ReplyDeleteLove the dimensional tree, and coveting your button jar of bounty.x
ReplyDeleteOooh those large fiskars scissors are sewing scissors in my house and arent allowed near paper (my pair are still on my table since Sunday when I finished sewing my owl - thats how untidy I am!) - well done on another Christmas card - I still havent started any and usually do so in about July - maybe I wont send any home made this year?? who knows! Love your button jar - I have one of those now as I havent had chance to sort them all back out into separate colours (mad as I am!) since our charity crop but we raised quite a bit of money with our guess the number of buttons in the jar competition! gosh I am waffling arent I - can tell you are the first desk I have visited this morning!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to look at your desk again Julia, it was even better to see you and Jan yesterday. Love that little tree but what is that syringe-y thing doing there I ask myself?
ReplyDeleteBig orange scissors are for fabric in my house!
Have a Happy Wednesday!

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Julia. Being see through you will lose those new drawers on your desk....get them filled quickly :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
A x
This is my third and final attempt at posting a comment before I throw blogger out of the window!! Your desk looks like your desk.. you know what I mean, and hope your mojo returns soon
ReplyDeletexx
That MOJO is a hard thing to pin down, I find it deserts me when I HAVE to do something not when I WANT do something. With me it is a pressure and expectation thing, both from myself and what I think someone else is wanting from me...I find it helps if I HAVE to create something for a class or demo, then I sit down with the intention of BEING creative and if something good comes out of it, so be it...that usually works, it takes the pressure off.
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Julia - yep! tis evening here now! and I have been absent for whole ten days and having withdrawals - lots of surf 'n sun pickies today of our spring weather so nothing autumnal about it downunder - but was thinking though we might have fab weather down here, you folk up there have the advantage of super craft shops plus meeting up with equally nutty crafties (oops did I just say that?)
ReplyDeleteAnyway glad you had a great time with friends and happy WOYWW Shaz in Oz.x Well done to Maggie too!
600? that is a lot of talking, still, if you didn't say it who would?
ReplyDeleteDx
Love that pink tree on your C card Julia, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 600th post - onwards and upwards.
Thanks for the birthday congrats - and well done on your 600th post - what a little chatterbox you are! x Jo
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I can't link up today. Will try again later. Intrigued by your glasses, you must take them off to take a picture. 600 posts - wow, keep it up, it's great reading.
ReplyDeleteMy first time with this challenge and I can see I'm going to be here for a while looking at all the blogs!!
ReplyDeleteLoving that big jar of buttons though!! And what a clever idea with that christmas tree! Luscious colours!
Jackie x
First thing I must say is a big thank you to you Julia, and to Mr Dunnit for picking my name for the book. Can't wait for it to arrive and have a good nose through.
ReplyDeleteLove your desk, and that card is superb, a really good contemporary card - I think they are harder to do than the traditional. Glad you had a good day out, and I am sure the creative juices will soon be flowing after the break (and the break in the weather)
Congrats on 600 posts! :D
ReplyDeleteAm liking the contemporary christmas card. :)
Ali
Congratulations on 600 opportunities for chat, and a gloriously messy desk. I love your idea of a draw! Now THAT's true mathematical randomness.
ReplyDeleteI was determined to get a bit higher up the list this week. I've only just woken up at 9.15 after going to bed not at all sleepy at 4.30 a.m. ... I know... it's the beastly M.E. ... I did check before going to bed to see if I could be Number One this week, but... it WAS Wednesday, and no WOYWW 122 yet! Lol. Back to bed again now for a cup of tea and some more shut-eye. Then breakfast at lunch time, etc. etc. I'll NEVER get through the list today!!!!! Have a great WOYWW and see you all later!

ReplyDeleteIt must obviously be time for the masses to get on with their Crimbo cards if our Julia is doing hers! Love the contemporary look of it. Sweet, more "stuff" on your desk, thanks LLJ! Whilst in England last week we popped down to Yeovil and on the way back, signposted from the A303 I saw a sign for Ludgersall, but we were half way round the M25 heading for Cambridge when I finally worked out why I new the name! Congrats on the 600 posts too.

ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Love the tree card - nose against the screen here :) Big Fiskars sewing scissors - have two pairs of course, one for crafting (love them!) and one for sewing (hidden in the sewing box so they don't get mixed up). So, are you going to show the finished result of that tree, huh, huh?! :)) Happy WOYWW!! Di xx

600 posts!! Congratulations :D. I really like the Christmas tree/contemporary card btw.
ReplyDeleteI love how the acrylic drawers have been absorbed (in future you might want to tell new things, "You will be assimiliated. Your biological and technological uniqueness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.") Hoping your mojo is fully re-charged :D.
Congratulations on your 600th posting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you forgive me for being away last week Miss. I was in Cornwall and I have pics to prove it today!!
WooT to #600! And also for trying a contemporary Christmas design; I just can't seem to get into them. Maybe if I lived in Florida...eh, no, probably not even them. /sigh. Have a good week.

ReplyDeleteI'm a little late posting. 4 men have taken over my house... packing that is. Quite embarrassing at times when the dust bunnies come out.

hugs!
kat
Hi again Julia - thanks for the nice comment on my blog, and glad you like my projects. I'm sorry to have to disillusion you but I did have a bigger breakfast than the Clementine! I also had porridge, yoghurt, half a grapefruit and coffee! I don't allow myself bread/toast and marmalade every day because I'm trying (vainly) to keep my weight down, but every now and then, just for a treat - esp. when there's new bread straight out of the bread maker!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Happy 600th post!!!!
ReplyDeleteI finally got my new craftroom finished so I put up the post of that. I hope that okay! My desk is immaculate....I'm sure that's the last time I'll ever see that again! Haha!

ReplyDelete:lol: Thought I'd reply here where you'll see it... it's Thickers letters stuck to the bottom of my flatscreen computer monitor! :D
It actually spelled out Aimee (I had put them on an LO but then changed my mind and took them off and stuck them there out of the way) but the A's fallen off!
600 posts that is fantastic.Well done. You look very organised today for some serious crafting.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Congratulations on your 600th post!!!
ReplyDeleteI have my buttons in jars but somewhat segregated - the colorful ones in a jar and then the more subtle ones in another - that way the slightly tinted ones don't get overpowered by the crazy, loud ones.
Still thinking I might need to convert my bedroom into my craft room..... HHHmmmmm
hey, congratulations on your 600th post!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving how that christmas tree is looking, quite into pink for christmas. Hope your mojo has returned. This week I will be starting with the lower nos as I did the other end last week - perhaps we'll meet in the middle!!

I'd love to dip into that box containing glitter containers full of the magic! I am housesitting for my daughter and only have her craft stash to play with. Kid in a candy shop I am. Been making some gothic windows. Love your glasses. Love your desk. Love the light. *smiles* Norma
ReplyDeleteGreat desk as normal - love the jar of buttons being an OCD crafter mine are all sorted by colour and into little jars lol

ReplyDeleteAs a school girl I worked at summers in Fiskars´ scissor factory. Did you know they are originally finnish?
600 post ... wow, amazing, shouldn't we be celebrating and having a party?
ReplyDeleteGreat desk.... although there's a lot on it .. it all seems to be in order... if you know what I mean. Thanks for popping in on me and sorry this is late but it's been crafting, donna, workshop Donna, Stamp show Donna, Crafting Carole prepping for Port Sunlight Show on Saturday, crafting...... etc., so what can a gal do?
Love joZarty x
I like that Christmas tree you're working on. Oh my! I hate to have to start worrying about holiday cards now but "tis the season", eh? I've been a bit mojo-less but started messing about with art journaling and you can see my results at linky #130.
ReplyDeleteJulia, you are set up as a no-reply blogger! I couldn't respond via email, so I had to come here to tell you that, yes, indeed, that IS a yoga mat. I do yoga in my studio most mornings. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI think I have your desk beat by a longshot. Embarasing as it is, I work better that way! I need a vacation to get my workspace(s) in order. That will be the day! Congrats on your 600th post. It's a long way off for me to get that far!

Congrats on the 600 post!!! I love your work desk and all the wonderful ideas floating around on it. It's amazing how we can all inspire one another by just letting us peak at our messes...hehe!! My sweet friend over at Kottage Kreations said I should come and share in the mess. I know what I will be doing tomorrow...looking at all the other "desk".
ReplyDeleteYour new friend,
Regi
Hi Julia...I see so much inspiration on that desk and no mess what so ever..hehe!!! So happy that you came by to visit with me and I am one of your followers now..so I'll be back. (HEY..I've always wanted to say that)

Sadly, I was gone when the timer on WOYWW came out this week. Just got home, so couldn't participate. I really LOVE that card. I don't make many cards, but when I do, I would love to make one of these. BTW, congrats on your 600th post.
