What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 92

It's a bit of a mess, but my defence is that from this view, it's just showing that I'm actually doing some card making! The little blue lidded box that seems to feature quite a lot on my desk is one of about 4 containing either brads or eyelets. I was trying to find some nice brads to match this card but failed; honestly, you can own 8 million of anything and still not have the right one!
From this angle, you can see that I have an overflowing scraps box again. I will be doing something about this. Just as soon as I get motivated. Stamps to be cleaned are overflowing from the basket, and there's a workshop to kit up, so that will be seen to later today. If you're in the Northern hemisphere, isn't it great that the nights and mornings are a bit lighter!

Now then, record numbers last week - took me till yesterday to see them all, but what a grand trip! So do it again why don't you - upload to your blog and leave a link here - a picture of what you're currently up to and how your desk is coping.
And whilst you're hopping, consider a trip to Sisters Crafty Creations, Wipso and Twiglet are busy filling their shelves with pieces useful for crafters, some fab ideas from readers have been turned into reality - and they're having a large give away....go see.

  7. It's true...when there is more in the scrap box that on the desk we need to do some thinking...Mine is full of my experiments, not-quites and what would that look like? Can't throw them away... they get filed under the get round to that some day - along with the ribbon tidying. Looking busy and recognising some PA stamps... Have a good week.

I have a project planned for grandkids, their next overnight stay..sorting buttons by color even if they only get 1/2 done it would help. Off for some great fun. Enjoy

Oh, and how about changing your brads to suit your card yourself? Acrylic paint, alcohol inks, even EP and glitter.... Failing that, find a large hole punch, and cut your own card candy!

  24. But your scrap box (is that it on the far left?) does look very organised and colour-coded! Know what you mean about brads - one shade of blue/green/brown etc. is just not enough. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. So agree with all the things we have ' we still never seem to have the right piece for that project - could that be that wer're in such a mess we can't find it? Have a great day.

  27. Had to laugh I have enough bits to open a mini shop but never have quite the right thing. The nights getting lighter are great and have resulted in me spending a little more time crafting. As for scraps used to keep them - realised I never ever used them so now they go straight in the bin

  42. hmm it is indeed true that it is nice to have daylight at the beginning of the day, and that it is finally still light in the afternoons, but of course it means there are no shadows on our desks in which the sins may be hidden, I just took photo's of my work desk and I hang my head in shame - it is wonder I can find anything let alone a matching brad...and since i have shoes on the table, I shall have bad luck forever....

    ReplyDelete
  43. A lovely busy desk! I know how you feel regarding matching card to brads/buttons etc how many shades of a colour can there be? Wishing you a lovely crafty week.

  54. I love your workspace this week. Lots of creativity been going on here! You seem to be one busy lady.....don't you just love it!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Nice and crafty! And I totally agree - no matter how much you have of something, it never fails that there isn't a "perfect" match. I've taken to colouring embellies with my Copic Markers to get a match. If you check out my post BEFORE my WOYWW post you will see what I mean!

  56. The Paperartsy stamps look nice.

  57. Lots still going on on your desk Julia! The first shot straight down does show that you are actually making something, but unfortunately the one from the side shows that you're making on a pile of other stuff lol!!

Lovely daylight you have through that window though I'm sure.

    Take care,

  68. It just looks busy to me! I know what you mean about the brads and it goes for any embellishment, you never have the right one, but you did just see something on a blog or website somewhere that would be perfect......or is that just me?

  70. I could be at home at your workdesk. Lovely creative inspiration here. I LOVE your overflowing scrap basket. One of the first things that caught my eye. Can't wait to see what you do with it all. (I need ideas for my overflowing scrap drawer.)

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one with an overflowing scrapbox (although mine is hidden from view today) - how come it's always bulging when I'm always using scraps - it might be because I like cutting into new papers too. Isn't it always the way that you can't find the right colour brad when you need it - can you use a copic or some alcohol ink to colour a plain one? x

  72. I spy a PaperArtsy stamp! I have my scraps in a bin with a lid.....that way I can shut the lid and ignore the mess! haha

  74. Hi there. Your comment about matching brads goes for sewing, patchwork and handbags in my house! I too have alot of scraps. Two boxes in fact. However, I am sometimes able to make whole layouts (bar the cardstock) with just scraps and that is sooo satisfying! They come in handy for punching butterflies too! My excuse and you are most welcome to use it!!

  83. I have gone with an unconventional approach to WOYWW. The floor is my desk for the day.

  84. Desk looks fab - did you know that you can paint brads, ink them with the same colour ink to match your card and then if necessary dip them in embossing powder and heat to set the ink(make sure you hold the brad in a peg and not your fingers though!) - then you get perfect matching brads for every project!

    ReplyDelete
