Mine, after making just two cards, needs sorting already!
An unintentionally clever angle means that you can see a card standing up, but you can't actually see the card. This is a good thing because it's for a workshop and it's not fair to share them before hand. In my opinion. On the left is my A5 box that houses gems, sitting on top of a piece of mulberry paper. Lordy, I'm going retro! There's a small packet of topper styled die cut D shapes under the plastic tray - to go onto a small album I'm going to put together for a friend's birthday. No really, I am. The plastic tray is for the embossing powder (I treated myself to yet another Cosmic Shimmer one today...oooh!). And then you can see the tools of me trade so to speak. No idea what I was using the Cropadile for, but the signature bunch of scissors and unwound ribbon are there, so it's my desk for sure!
Show us what you're doing then, this Wednesday - doesn't have to be crafty, we just like to see work 'desks' the world over. Photo, briefly describe, upload to your blog and link here. Over a handful of days, we'll visit. Easy. No membership, no rules (except - keep it tasteful!) and no sweating over visiting every desk - it can't always be done - just enjoy those you do visit!
Very clever, keeping the card mysterious! :-)
ReplyDeleteGret crafty angles today! Love the colour of that mulberry paper. I love how there are so many of us hovering at 6am uk time to post first - it said I was and then I;m down at no 8 - hi girls how are you doing!!
ReplyDeleteI knew #1was unattainable...lol....glad to be up here...now I can go to bed....enjoy your day!
ReplyDelete*smile*
Oooh you getting all photo clever with hiding the card!! I agree though, it would be a tad unfair to show the world before the workshop. Quite tidy again too Julia... I see desk!!
ReplyDeleteI keep looking t the Cropadile and asking myself, DO I need one? DO I?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me?
Will my life be made easier by having such a piece of kit?
Answers on a postcard please!
Neat angle for the card Julia.
Have a great day!
Chrissie
As always, a woman of mystery. Happy WOYWW!

Nice and productive looking desk me thinks thismorning, Mrs Dunnit! I also like to just give a sneaky peek of my workshops too..in fact there is one on my desk today! lol
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week
xx
Very clever way to disguise that card. If that had been me, I'd have to swing from the ceiling in order to get that shot.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteGreat desk this week, love the pink cropadile. I think fairies play with my tools when I am asleep. Everthing always looks messier when I wake up.
Have a great WOYWW!, hugs Marjo
Well, someone is either on a hot date or asleep, but I wanted to check in even w/o a link. I think you waited long enough - mulberry isn't retro...it's current! It is the Benjamin Moore color of the year, but they are calling it "vintage wine" isn't that a crack up? All good things...
ReplyDeleteCertainly alot has been happening on your desk love the A5 box of gems would love to have a rummage - have a great Wednesday
ReplyDeleteYour looking very busy there Julia and gotta love all that sparkles :)
ReplyDeletehugs Nikki
I've also added a WOYWW Fabric crafter button to
Hi there Julia,
ReplyDeleteI do love your blog, Mrs Dunnit! your little witticisms keep a smile on my face as I read them.. loved the one about the Teneriffe street-view ;) and thanks so much for hosting WOYWW as have made friends from all over in just the three weeks I have done it so far!! and thanks too for popping to my desk with your encouragement,
Shaz in Oz.x
oooh yes lovely jaunty angle! Always love a bit of mystery.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it's WOYWW #88 already?
Maybe when it comes to 111 we could do something special for 2011??
happy woyww
xxxfairy leonie #21
Mulberry paper?? That IS retro! Such useful stiff and it can be so pretty, too. But honestly my brain is barely awake - really hate Wednesday and the early bus school thing, but at least I'm at my desk for WOYWW. LOL! Do you find working on a dark desk a problem? I had a dark one, then got my L shaped arrangement and it's very light wood. I think it's less distracting and colours look more true on it. Anyway, just wondered, have wondered for weeks and only just getting around to asking :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Mary Anne
were you hanging from the light taking the picture?...fab desk and posting as always

Look forward to seeing the card when you can finally reveal! Hugs Pam x
ReplyDeleteClever angle I sort of wish I was going to your workshop lol. Yummeeee I so love cosmic shimmer. My cropadile tends to appear on my desk when I haven't used it I reckon they appear to remind me they haven't been used for awhile lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's one busy desk there today. Look forward to seeing the card when you can show us.

Very artistic piece of photography today Julia. I wanted one of those shots but decided against standing on my swivel chair with no one else at home!

Is that a penguin I spy right at the very top??
ReplyDelete** Kate **
Swinging from the light bulb to get an arty shot is a bit dangerous...LOL
ReplyDeleteToni :o)
aww.. wanna see the card!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove having a busy desk like that.. off to see the state of mine and will share
Marlena x
You see, your over head angle shots always look good. Me, mine and little me's angel shots are usually shaky and out of focus, having stood on a box that's crumbled under my weight, as my bench is a little higher than a table or desk. (and I'm 5' 2 and a bit) Still, I will practise to improve them! (or try a stronger box!)Although swinging from the chandelier maybe fun if not a little reckless! Your desk look fabulously productive as usual!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy woyww!
((Lyn))
Great shot! And funny that you can't remember why the Crop-a-dile is out. That thing is such a contraption that you would think it would stick in your brain lugging it out onto the desk, lol!
ReplyDeleteAs always, thank you for hosting WOYWW!!
xoxo Karen
6 am???? Crikies i had only been in bed 2 hours by then, 6 am is the middle of the night lol anyways Hi Julia I finally made it back here to play. Great angle always love a bit of tool action.
ReplyDeleteGood morning to you all!! My desk today!! I've got new boxes on my desk , soooo cute!!

Happy wednesday!!
Hi Julia , nice busy desk again. I'm not at mine this morning as off to Kath,s, so maybe will get some pics in the Cubbyhole !
ReplyDeleteHave a good day
Anne xxx
Hi Julia. Your desk looks just fine. I have a Crop-a-dile and will shortly be exploring its capabilities.Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Oooops almost forgot to link up today. Too tired from work... how it gets in the way of creative time ;-) Hmm, good way to keep us curious with the photo angle!
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia - looks like a busy desk for you this week - don't forget to show us that card when you can.
ReplyDeleteDoh! Blogger just ate my comment.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW to you all, and looking forward to a happy blog hop over the next few days.
Bernie
Hehe, nope thats just a regular stapler sitting on top of an electric pencil sharpener...
ReplyDeleteAs for the cardboard shims for my cuttlebug....well I don't mind the plates getting ugly and cut up some. I just hate replacing them when they crack and break from all the cuts. I have had to replace 3 so far, until the shims that is. Could be the sizzix dies that do the most damage.
xoxo Marjo
Wow you girls are at this way to early for me, probably wont get my desk uploaded until later tonight, may have to start taking the pic last thing at night and bring it to work with me :) But while you girls were maddley bloggin I was swimming at 6.45am this morning. Have a fab Wednesday and will hopefully join you all later xx
ReplyDeleteGreat desk! Sneaky photography! Vickie
ReplyDeleteOooh how sneaky, showing the card without "showing" it! :) Glad I'm not the only one whose desk already needs tidying after making just one or two items!
ReplyDeleteHiya Julia
ReplyDeletedont think that looks too bad after making two cards lol, nice angle shot
Joey x
What a tease! So wondering about that upright card...Thanks for hosting and stop by and see me...I'm having my first blog giveaway http://studio48tango.blogspot.com/2011/02/woyww-88.html
ReplyDeletesneaky camera shot - like it! I have a box of stamps in need of a good clean on my desk - and I blame you entirely for that! Over the weeks checking out your desk, I've picked up some bad habits from you! hee hee. Happy Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteFunny how we're always most interested in the bits we can't see - like your card-in-progress!
ReplyDeleteThat's a clever way to photograph your desk without giving anything away! I want to know what the workshop is now!
ReplyDeleteHelen #78
Clever angle Julia! Happy Wednesday, Judith xx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, looks as though I wasn't the only one standing on a chair to take the piccie today. I'm now totally intrigued and can't wait to see what the front of that card looks like. Elizabeth x #79
ReplyDeleteI managed to get my cropadile on ebay very cheap and use it all the time. Just spotted your mulberry paper. I have just come across a tutorial for using this in paper tearing to create very lifelike animal pictures. Need to source myself some now to have a go.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to take the photo so it just shows the top of the card. My craft area looks worse than that and I only made a couple of cards yesterday - always need to get out loads of stuff. x
ReplyDeletegood idea about getting a shot of a card standing up. hmm, i'm going to google cropadile and see what that does. we had problems with our internet connection at work (patsy and i) today and we were acting as if it was such a big problem if we didn't get to list our posts with mr. linky! good thing my other sister's computer had a connection and we used it to link up.
ReplyDeleteI have a cropadile but we don't get on:( I am left handed and it feels really awkward using it. HAPPY WOYWW:)
ReplyDeleteShall we just call you Agatha then?? I have a lime green cropodile and only use it in dire emergencies... I have these tiny, tiny hands you see, it heavy and awkward for me to use!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll show us the card eventually, right?
ReplyDeleteGreat space! Mine looks far too neat!
ReplyDeleteVery clever photo!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and keep creating!
love the card standing up i have to quickly check my desk and remove any dt cards/projects first before taking the photo lol x
ReplyDeleteVery clever angle on the card! Must file that away for future reference!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
What a clever idea to take a picture in this angle so we can't see the card. I have to remember this - it, of course, means I have to climb onto my chair. I always love the mess on your table.
ReplyDeleteWish I could take a photo from that angle without standing on a ladder. 103
ReplyDeleteMess comes with making 1 or 100 cards I find...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and reading my waffle!

So fun..like the suspense
ReplyDeleteMaking zipper flowers today, tutorial to follow soon!
ReplyDeleteIt took me an age to spot the upright card - think I need new specs :) As everyone else says, hope you show it properly when you can...we're all curious! Di x
ReplyDeleteOh, the ATG gun is still making me green of envy, thought I've got over that feeling....for the ATG gun at least. I so hope that you'll show us the card later.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Maarit
(just on a visit, not WOYWWing today)
Here is my first entry - been following for a while. Hope you like it Love Cynthia x
ReplyDeleteGood angle on the card - like the desk as usual. I'm late today usually manage 70-80 but 116 this week.!! Won't manage too many this week have to share computer with ES so don't get around as many as I would like but see some magic desks.
ReplyDeleteThanks
x Tricia
This is my first visit and the first time I've joined in.
ReplyDeleteI am still dithering over the ATG gun and I love the desk shot very clever to keep us all in suspense like that
ReplyDeleteYou have a great blog! I only found you last week, but I am jumping in with both feet to the WOYWW. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteDanielleP
Thank you for opportunity to win...and I hope you can clear you desk(at least for a short while) soon.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Julia It was like playing Where's Waldo? I couldn't find the card! I finally did but I thought I was going blind...
ReplyDeleteHUGs Claudia
ooh, cosmic shimmer embossing powders, I've not tried those before....thanks for sharing the desk (love the takeaway container, they are the best free crafting storage ever!)
ReplyDeletekyla
Who can resist cosmic shimmer EP, I love it and have been using loads this week but can't show it before Friday!!
ReplyDeleteI think we must all have scissors and an unrolled ribbon on our desks if we looked hard enough under all the other stuff, it's a crafts signature!!
As always it's a busy busy desk.
Hugs Lisax (127)
As how I hover at 6 am (10pm makes it easier in America but won't be here next week) I never manage to get an early spot. Not sure what the secret is as I switch back and forth. Ah well, maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the desk and the opportunity to visit so many others.
I have often looked at some of your woyww posts but not taken a piccie of mine so thought I would start
ReplyDeleteJulia, You out did yourself now! Swinging from the chandilier to take this picture? Ohh! Happy Happy Wednesday! Waahooooo! Wednesday Is such a great day to go visit all these wonderful blogs!
ReplyDeleteOff I go! Hugs!
That's a sneaky angle and not only does an aerial shot make the desk look tidy, but it also had me searching for ages for that darned card. It takes me a while to focus!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek, sneak!
Thanks also for visiting me today and also during my CHA adventure!
JoZarty x
show us the card later please!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice angle. I might have to use that one sometime soon!! LOL! Thanks for being a fab host. Enjoy being nosey!!

I guess the Crop-a-Dile has become part of the furniture. Thanks for all the times you've visited my site, Julia! You have always been so encouraging and it is really appreciated and valued. Good to be back! Shirley #52 (adopts clever technique of others with great speed)

ReplyDeletehugs
Morning Julia, not sure if i commented or not yesterday so if i have here i am again... if not well... Hello! lots of goodies there adn great way to hide your card. In reply to your q last week about the big squeeze, most of the time i forget i have it as I've got a bug too. In a moment of madness though i thought it'd be good to use it to cut out alphas on my scrap paper so now I have a wee box of loads that I'll probably forget i have.. lol.. Hope you had a wonderful WOYWW and a great week ahead.

As usual a good rummage round your desk always cheers me up :) First thing I look for is the mug, half full or half empty, there should be a mug on every crafters space :)
ReplyDeletei forgot to post my link yesterday!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love when you put things away, and you don't know why they were there, or you know you didn't, and had no intention of using it??? So, is it ok to post Wed. work on Thurs? I feel guilty, but I can't craft, and download images on the same night! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
