What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 79

Argh, well I'm scheduling this...firstly so our friends across the waters can work out their timings in terms of posting and second because I shall be tackling the mountain of ironing by the time you lot wake up and go to work...I've awarded myself the morning off, I just HAVE to get some things straight!

Alas and alack, this many not apply to the desk tomorrow....the missing focal point is my beloved glass mat. And that's because I took it to the crop on Saturday and haven't quite unpacked yet. Oops. You can of course see the ATG monster as usual, ElElJan says it's a bit like Where's Wally - it's always there somewhere! And talking of ATG..thanks to Mary Anne who sagely pointed out the directional arrows embossed into the inside of the case - I changed the sticky roll without having to photo the thing first - never noticed the diagram arrows!!
And to answer an oft asked question - no, I don't stand on a chair to take these WOYWW pics - I don't put myself out like that very often believe me. But those of you who know me will recall my slender, tall frame which is perfect for hovering over tables at dizzying heights. And those of you that have really met me wil understand that double checking I haven't got my boobs in the edge of the shot involves some contortionist skills. Make of that what you like! Happy Wednesday to you. And if you've time, do track bac a post and visit the Amber Ink blog hop - you'll be wow'ed and WOYWWed!
Show us your desk then, in all it's December glory and/or gore...we want to know how prepared and how panicked you are. You can tell my state of mind. Share yours - upload a pic to your blog, link here and let us visit. No other particular rules - be nice though - reciprocal visits are de riguer!

  1. I don't believe it... can it be true? Am I number one on the list or will it all change when I press send or soemthing? LOL
I did wonder if perhaps you had broken the glass cutting mat, glad to hear it is only a case of not unpacking yet! I tackled the iron mountain today and I won!! Yahoooo... now if I can persuade everyone not to put anything in the dirtly laundry basket I may actually stay up to date for more than a day!!

  3. Ah, those tall willowy frames do come in handy! Such a wonderful bird's eye view! It let's me see pie shaped things and signs of chocolate! It is late here, so you can tell what is on my mind!
Thank you for doing such a inKredible job in everything you do. I'm sure that your ironing will be impeccable as well. Ironing? Actually it must be a British term.

  6. It is with great relief that I read that you were't in fact teetering on your craft stool to take this dizzying pictures. All looks busy, but I'm afraid I couldn't do anything without my glass mat... it's actually what determines the extent of my working area... but in fact I only usually have about 6sq ins of it clear to work on.
    Have a great day!

  7. Organised? No, you will read my confession on my post! Love your heart shaped mug! Have fun with the ironing - this is live at just gone 6am uk time and please don't ask why I have started putting the computer on to link up before I go to work when I get there soon after 7 anyway.... this is what WOYWW does to you! Have a great day.

  8. Sigh, your desk just isn't the same without your glass mat!

  9. Wow, now I know why I can't create cards. I need a glass mat, bigger boobs, and an ATG. Maybe I'll ask Santa for one or all at Christmas! So, what's in the heart? It looks like tea! Happy happy, and get some rest before tackling that ironing.

  10. Love the wheres wally ATG - oh to have a tall willowy frame as you can tell by my photos short and dumpy is my style. Quite organised for Christmas just got card inserts and wrapping to do! Have a great Wednesday x

  12. Well, I am tall - not slender though - wish I was more like you (ie willowy). Ironing - you can't mean clothes ironing - you mean encaustic? Or is a resist technique?

  18. I stopped ironing a decade ago. Pay a lovely lady to do that and she gives me free time to scrap. Also discovered a great space (ironing table) at just the right height to add scraps . I do love that heart shaped mug.

  19. What's a glass mat and an ATG? I think those are Perfect Pearls in the heart tin. Happy WOYWW #11

  20. Julia, one very busy desk again. Love the heart cup by the way. No, I'm not ready for Christmas as going through some upheaval at the moment and Christmas is the last thing I'm thinking about. Will have to get onto it very soon. Thanks for sharing your workspace this week and giving us another view of that massive ATG. Best wishes, Kym xxx (WOYWW No 34)

  24. please come round and do mine whilst I am at work - we are about to run out of clothes to wear - when you are finished with my ironing and you have done our dinner and have given time and attention to my loved ones - we could do some craft together - say at about 1am?

  26. I think the tin contains H2Os so don't get confused and pop one in as a chocky! I get so happy when I see the JCB monster of the crafting world lurking as it shows how you have come to love it, as I do mine. I hope the heart shaped dish isn't one of those expensive Le Creuset mini casseroles getting relegated as a paint water pot!!
Your desk looks much like mine and I find each week there runs a trend of messes or tidy ups amongst many desks.
    Relax, have fun, stay warm....

  29. Hi again, just letting you know that I too took my photos (with my tall slender frame, fighting to keep my boobs out of the picture). Do you find the ATG heavy? Looks it. I am still working the double sided tape by hand.

    ReplyDelete
  30. OMGosh! I'm not sure we even have an iron in the house. I think ours is lost in the garage somewhere.

This is my first time joining in. Looks like loads of fun and no pressure!

    Your desk looks wonderfully busy!

  31. I'm here, late but here! I've never managed to get on with a glass cutting board,a bit like nails and chalk boards...although, I don't really have nails. As is the same with taking over head pictures, being ashort-ass there's usually a shadow, the camera strap or my finger showing...and of course the picture's nearly always blurred! Love the heart shaped mug (?) I'd probably dribble out of that!
    ((Lyn) Number...was 54...but it won't be now!

  32. Ironing - eeek! All those bits and piece just look so intriguing :) Love the mug! I always manage to get my head between the light and the table when I try to take these piccies!

  35. Sounds like you need help from the ironing fairy - shall I pop over when I have finished Wipso's??

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm not sure I could cope with a glass mat...doesn't it have the potential to make the screechy sound like fingers down a board? :)

  37. Hi Julia!! I still love your desk.. great work going on there..

  39. Morning Julia, Ironing!! Gave up a long time ago, only when needs must. Not prepared in the slightest for Christmas, just managed to catch last post to Australia with Son's pressy and the rest of the family coming to stay, hopefully it will all fall into place, it usually does. Great desk. Carolxx

  40. Morning! What is this ironing you all speak of? I'm not familiar! ;)

Great desk as always, Julia! I hope you manage to have a catch up, I actualy gave myself the morning off yesterday and only got about half of the stuff I had planned done. x

  48. Sorry but a morning off to do ironing - never do the stuff. Taught my boys early on - if they bought anything that needed ironing (or dry cleaning / hand wshing) then that was their responsibility , not mine. Love WOYWW - great institution.

  49. Good Morning from across the pond! I see we both had to do the same thing this week - take our photo a wee bit earlier than usual!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ironing! That's as bad as swearing at us first thing! I did wonder about how you take your photos - now all is revealed! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ironing - I think I gave it up some years ago. It must be bad, because even OH only asks me to iron a shirt once a year or so. Good to see another busy desk.

Off to start snooping - managed a full house a fortnight ago, but was felled by flu last week - hoping to do better this time.

  58. Ironing! Can't be doing with that. More important things to do. I'm moving up the pecking order too. In at no.87 today. Not sure if thats cos not so many are playing or I have my act together. Time will tell.

  59. Well when I pressed the button it said 87. Just checked and I'm 91. Ageing by the minute!!

  60. Ironing? Always hated it and spent many nights up late after everyone else in bed. But, always loved the pretty sight of it all haning there and looking so great. I at some point told everyone no more clothes to be bought that had to be ironed or since you are old enough you ay iron them yourselves. Your desk shows you have been very busy and your posts show some of those beautifuly creations. Thanks for all you do Julia. Think I'm #92. Talk about short term memory!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well Julia, I've got the boobs but I'm vertically challenged so if I wanted a shot like yours I would have to stand on a chair. Is that chocolates I see before me? As usual your workdesk is worth a snoop. Elizabeth #95

  71. Hi Julia, the first thing I noticed on your desk was the heart mug. I have one of those, I collect all things hearts so had to have one LOL. You did start your ironing early this morning. Perhaps that's what I should do make an early start then it's out of the way, mmmmmm, I'll think a little harder about that one. Tracy Evans (no 3).

  72. And everyone thinks photography is easy...

My ATG gun is a bit camera shy but I wouldn't be without it. I got fed up with bits falling embarrassingly off birthday cards!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Before I read your post, just looking at your photo I thought you must have stood on a chair to take your photo. I'm only just over 5" and would love to be taller. I've never got my boobs in a shot, although my belly has featured a few times!!

    (108 this week!)
