What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 68!

TRACE DEE - read the post below this one!!
Every week since the 'anniversary' I've typed the week number into the title and shake my head in wonder...any time y'all start to get bored, just say the word...I'm sure there's another useless acronym type blog hop waiting around! For variety and some attempt at even-ness in commenting, the last two weeks I started looking at desks from the highest number back. But because of oh,I don't know, everything else, there are about a dozen people in the middle 80s I didn't get to. Sorry! Please please don't let me have missed anything though, I will be kicking
myself!

So, as I may have warned in yesterday's post, my desk is a bit of a shambles again. It is however, very , very much tidier than it was at about 10.30 last night. Then I had a hissy fit because stuff kept falling on the floor. So I gave in and tidied up. So what you see is the detritus of maybe the last hour of trying. And I mean trying! My die cutting section is a little improved..but nothing has yet been put away...but then I am raking through it every five minutes, so that would be a bit counter productive, eh?!

I thought Siobhan's idea worked well last week - make a mental note of your Mr Linky number and when you comment on other's desks, add your number to your comment and visits can be reciprocated. And also, a silent three cheers for Mr Linky...amazing the technology that strangers make available for free AND make it so simple that even I can use it. Loving the Linky meister!

So then - show off or confess, whatever your desk style; we'd love you to join this big old blog hop. Not many rules, no membership necessary, dip in and out as and when you can, but know that you'll make some friends; Wednesdays are a very inclusive day in this portion of the ether! Add your pics to your blog, link it here and we'll swing by to rummage and comment over what you've got and what you're doing. Doesn't have to be paper crafting....there's a lot of knitters and sewers out there, and wine makers and oh I don't know, just load up and share please!

  2. Oh my word - do my eyes deceive me - stalking pays off! I can't believe I am #1 on that list!!!

Hi Julia, hope your day is off to a good start - it's still Tues evening here but that's just the way it goes. It gives me great joy to see your desk today since mine looks like yours but worse. I can always tell when life is too crazed by the state of my desk.

Anyway, enjoy your blog hopping week - will see you on my side of the pond! :-)

  4. Having a tidy desk, clears the mind and helps one to think, but that then promotes activity which results in an untidy desk.........viscious circle.

  6. Bored? Are you kidding?! I love visiting other people and taking a little 'tour' of their desks :) I'm so excited I'm #4 this week! It's quite an accomplishment since there's about an 8 hour time difference between LA and the UK. By the time I get home on Wednesdays I'm usually in the mid hundreds...It's nice to be one of the first ones this week...I don't know if it'll ever happen again though! LOL

  7. Love this new time. Are those BIRDS on your desk? Are they nesties? I've never seen anything like them. But then, I've never seen a lot of the stuff you UK gals have, I swear, I think you get new products faster than we do over here. Even our local altered art type store didn't have grunge paper until after I kept asking about it. They'd never heard of it. They kept saying grunge board? and I kept saying, no, grunge PAPER. I don't think they believed it was a real product.

Anyway, your desk and I need a good chat. But I totally understand how detritus can make a desk look so much messier than it is. And don't you just love the word "detritus?"

    Happy WOYWW from #2.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this - I have only just come across it last week. Got your e-mail thankyou Julia and as you can see I've done it myself. I have a confession to make though - I was so worried about how to do this that I posted it on my blog yesterday (Tuesday) - but linked to it today (Wednesday) Is that a sin?? I won't do it again now I've sussed how to do it.

  15. Morning Mrs. Dunnit. I am no. 14 today, which is a fairly low number for me for a change! Usually I can't link in until I get to work but managed to sneak on early this morning. Your desk looks very busy and creative today :)

  16. Hmmm I can see your desk and I need a word :-) I could spend a happy hour cleaning it for you today if I wasn't minding my two gorgeous granddaughters....out of the two I know which comes highest on my list :-)

thanks for the word detritus. now i know a better word for what's on my desk, the floor, etc.

i've found that joining WOYWW encourages me to do more art because I don't want to show an empty desk. so that's good, right?

  39. I feel so happy to see the state of your's because now I don't feel tooooo bad as I'm in them middle of so many things and to tidy is to waste time crafting ( but to tidy, a bit, means you can craft more easily and get on quicker) Oh what do I do... Catch22!! Have a great WOYWW ... how many will there be this week.......Last week I visited almost all but didn't always have time for a comment, sorry folks.

  45. See, now, you said 'raking'. I have come to realise through participating in this deskfest, that my Workspace Is Tidy. True, it has its moments, and the rest of the house looks like a jumble sale fell on it - but I am going to bask in the glory of my tidiness. And when you say the word 'raking', I am going to point and smirk. Hope that's okay. love, Helen :D (number 46 - my age, ooooh!)

  92. I am SO far behind this week. I've not even covered half the desks and it's already late in the day in your neck of the woods. Wanted to tell you that a Round Robin (RR) is not the same as a jam. Actually, what MOST RRs entail is you send your book to the next person on the list, who in turn works in it, then passes it on, etc. until all in the RR have worked in it. You start by sending your book to the SAME person on the list each month (or time period). Then you send each additional book you receive to that SAME person each month.

To save on postage, we are not doing a typical RR. We are sending pages each month to a DIFFERENT player. I will get one set of pages each month, and a person in the matrix gets pages from me. We each specify what size, paper weight (if applies), style, and theme we each want to work with.

For example, MY pages are A4 or 8.5 X 11", decorated on both sides, to be bound by using a three hole punch, and placed in the binder. Can you guess the theme (grin)? BTW, mine are the biggest and most want their pages folded, although some do not. It's a fun swap and we are starting with our first mailing in Oct.

  99. Hi Julia, I enjoy your blog! When my workdesk looks like yours, I take an empty container and sweep everything off my desktop and into it. It's still a mess, but I can set it off to the side... neatly. ha ha! (Terry 127)

  101. Ooh what a long way to scroll down :-) Only just commenting 'cos I've been at DS's and though he does have internet connection we've been busy painting and moving stuff out of his living room to finally be able to have new carpet laid.
Your desk is crammed with stuff Julia so you['ve obviously been very busy. Mine's quite tidy this week - the first time in about 6 weeks I think :-/

  105. Hi Julia

A bit late, I know. I'm certainly not bored on WOYWW and love that you put the week number on - to prove how long this phenomenom (SP?) has been going on - and judging by the numbers, a heck of a lot of people would be disappointed if you withdrew the service LOL!!! Unfortunately, life has been getting in the way of me posting and joining in recently - and not the kind of life activities i'm enjoying to be quite frank... i'd much rather be doing WOYWW each week... Here I am, late but just couldn't not take part...

And OMG at the state of your desk... I have NEVER seen it in that state before - yippee - makes me feel loads better - but also it means you must have been having fun... and I spy some of the new scallop circle nesties on yr cuttlebugging desk and am soooooo jealous because I so neeeeed them!!! I've got the eyelet circles, but need the beeded ones, the oval ones, the large labels........... in fact all of them - but need to win the lottery first!!!

    Take care
