What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 63

Well mine looks relatively calm and ordered for a change. This isn't an illusion, but it also means that I haven't done much since Friday. I had a hissy fit and tidied absolutely. Except I didn't quite get to the basket of stamps waiting to be cleaned. Which as you can see, is becoming a heaped basket. I do not know what the motivation to sort it will be. Obviously, exposure via WOYWW isn't enough. Don't you love that - when some people think that weekly exposure will force them to be tidy. Last week's subtly placed card hiding my project for Daring Cardmakers is missing.....because I haven't done this week's yet...still walking around the idea in a blind panic. Really. You can see that my previous desk bin is now a holder for a bunch of wooden shapes that Mr D has cut - all part of our slow programme to cut a load and sell 'em...but they need road testing first...I'm getting there, honestly!

Join us then - show us your desk, what you're working on, where you're doing it - doesn't have to be a craft, doesn't have to be a desk, we're just fascinated by your everyday. Upload a pic to your blog and link it here to Mr Linky....we'll swing by and visit. Some of us will visit days later, it takes a while!
And notes:
Sorry Jenny, have to post early now, otherwise I'm late to work and don't catch up all day!
Thanks Jo, for the Mad House logo, will be using it, for sure.....oh it's a whole other post!!

  6. Good morning Julia. It's been a while since I joined in with WOYWW...life has been busy. Would love a rummage in your stamp collection - maybe a new set of stamps would be an incentive to clean the ones you've got! *Ü* Thanks for the snoop. Have a good day. ~Glen~

  8. no, weekly exposure doesn't work, especially when other people are just as untidy so we end up encouraging each other LOL. Loved the tree thing Mr D made that you used on your card the other day BTW. Can't wait for these shapes to go on sale, I love wood shapes!

  12. Love your desk, always. LIKING the look of the wooden shapes, very much! I keep one of those scrub it mats in a shallow dish right by me and clean as I go - they are great. Still, they're your stamps, and it's only ink, right!!

  14. I too have re-used my table bin for other things. It's the perfect size to hold my new Pro-markers (although won't be when i buy more) so they can lay down in storage. We need to see these shapes in use Mrs D........ I have wall hangings and other in mind for them :)

  19. Do I spy a Christmas tree and stars..(maybe wrong glasses!) "weekly exposure will force them to be tidy" yes, that nearly works, but.... even hubby has starting saying Tuesday night..it's woyww tomorrow, are you tidying up!?!
and I say, "workdesk" and I'm working on the ironing board/dining table this week.." so's all's well! Have a good woyww day!

  20. Wow you are early this morning Julia. First thing I spotted was those wooden shapes, is one a Christmas tree? they look fab. I like the look of the card on the left hand side too. Shame about all those stamps I would need some motivation to tackle cleaning that pile LOL. Have a good day, Tracy Evans x

  21. Cleaning stamps - not my idea of fun either. Like laundry, I would just buy a whole new set (of stamps or clothes). ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. What a good idea putting stamps to be cleaned in a basket - I might nick that! At the moment my stamps to be cleaned stay on the blocks until I need the block again! Hope you get your craft on again! Kim

    ReplyDelete
  23. i hate cleaning them as well, good luck finding some inspiration Julia, as always such a FAB idea xx

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not even reuse forces me to clean my stamps - I like the muddy brown colour, honest, or If I really want the colour of the paint or stamp pad I use the water from my painting bowl to clean the stamp - next craft room I'm having a sink installed - Its two full craft time minutes wasted to go to the sink. Hope the panic settles and you push on into producing a jewel...

  26. Morning all! Mad Morti checking in..... t'will take me all week to visit the blogs, but this time I'm going to try to leave a comment....

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ooh, I spy a basket of 'to be cleaned' stamps just like mine, but mine's on top of an open drawer, so hidden from my pics. I think I'd feel right at home in your room, Julia - free to make a mess, which is just the way I like it. Look forward to seeing what you do with those shapes...

    ReplyDelete
  28. I somehow feel like ur mom or a prefect at school or summat saying this, but perhaps sorting thru the pile and cleaning would provide inspiration?? In the guise of a forgotten stamp maybe or in my case, hands busy so mind wanders...

  29. Hiya Julia! I would be very happy to see you at Ally Pally - it is on the 25th and 26th of September - I will be there on the Saturday!
As you can see I am not that tidy the only thing I do straight away is always clean my stamps after I use them! I just can't stand dirty stamps! Something must be wrong with me ha, ha...
    Thank you for the snoop!
    Hugs,

  32. I've joined in but its only a non craft post ....no desk ...no craft ...just waffle. I just wanted to stay part of it all as I missed last week ....and I miss my WOYWW friends.

I noticed the shapes ...are they a star and a tree ??? or am I seeing them totally wrong ...which wont be a first for me. lol

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your post made me laugh Julia - I have been known to have a hissy fit and tidy everything away myself!

    ReplyDelete
  34. hi Julia!!! I always love reading your posts. and your desk is not that messy at all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Morning Julia, I'm afraid I have to clean my stamps as I go in case they get ruined - don't know where this idea came from. Otherwise I am not as tidy as some. Hope you have a lovely day. Love reading your posts. Big Hugs Joxxx

  38. Morning Julia. Oh those shapes look very interesting.
Yuck I hate cleaning my stamps. Luckily I only have a couple of acrylic blocks or I would have a mound of dirty stamps too. But I force myself to clean them and put them away every time.
Have a Fabby Wednesday and thanks for hosting

  39. Blimey, I get here at 9.05 and there's still 55 people posted ahead of me! It's possible you are feeling overwhelmed by having too much to do? When that happens to me I panic and don't get a thing done .... Your desk is impressively un-messy yet at the same time manages to convey the hint that you are just about to burst into purposeful activity!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. How funny that one person's mess is another person's tidy. My desk may be a notorious black spot for all things messy but I always clean my stamps as soon as I have finished with them. Perhaps I am not beyond hope after all!!
Don't forget there are plenty of people here who you can road test wooden shapes on, are you selling them decorated or as blanks??

  44. ha ha weekly exposure no way made me tidy up lol! My desk is a bomb site of stash and left overs. Mind you I do have to tidy it today as Mr Brown will be arriving soon in his UPS truck with a box or two of goodies than need sorting into shares and prepping for classes.......I've made the landing upstairs into a giant playpen for Blake to play in safely where he can no longer reach my stash!!

    Have a fabbo week

  47. What a mess I've had today. My internet has been acting up and I'm really late to the party. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. I love the shape of that wooden tree in the basket. I'm sure there are others I would love, too, but I could just make out the tree. Happy WOYWW.

  48. Lovely tidy space, Julia. I'm very familiar with that feeling of blind panic when a DT project is due and inspiration is not happening!!! Hope something comes to you soon!

  52. Hello Julia, I taken the plunge and joined for the first time today. I have been lurking for a while and enjoyed every desk I've visited, love to see the creative messes it's all too familiar:D
    My stamps are cleaned as I go because if I didn't and then found them hardened I would be mortified. So it's fear that drives me:{
Your desk seems restrained today, the cleaning up obviously works, I'll have to give it a go:D xx

  53. Hehe I was going to say... Do you need a house elf - I will wash all those dear little stamps for you.... then I read Wipso's comment! Great minds hey!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looks a very calm desk indeed for you this week. As I'm a bit of a neat freak, I always wash my stamps immediately. Then I just have to run some water over it and they'll be crisp and clear for the next use. If they would be still dirty, I couldn't be bothered to scrub them first :)
    Have a nice day!

  57. your workspace looks fab!....my stamps at the mo are clean...only because I took a cleaning fit about 3 weeks ago, cleared my whole space, it took me about 3 days! now I am too scared to use anything! Hugs Juls

  58. I don't think of WOYWW as a way to motivate myself to be tidier; I think of it as a way to celebrate my messiness and feel good that other people out there are messy as well!

As to cleaning your stamps: why bother? I'm not a big fan of cleaning stamps, although I do wipe them on my jeans.

  59. Afternoon!
What a boring job - cleaning stamps!!! That's got to be something to do whilst watching the TV or something - or maybe pay the kids to do... not there's a thought!

Looking forward to visiting everyones desks to have a nose!

    have a great week!

  60. I clean up my desk 'piles' when I want to start a new project and since I'm always wanting to start something new it generally works to help me keep a workable 'tidy' space. Don't think I'll ever be able to completely declutter! lol
