One of those days..

Oh my, look at these beautiful, stunning, ballerina like flowers. Paper white peony, burst from the pointy buds I posted a picture of only a couple of weeks ago. Bliss. Please please don't let it rain too soon - it destroys them. For the first time in 15 years there is a vague hint of pink inside the flowers. Interesting because we (OK, Mr Dunnit) plonked a traditional tight pink flowered peony on top of this one when we moved in 15 years ago. The different leaves and stems meant we had no clue as to the nature of this plant - it still stuns us. The interesting thing is that the two plants have really become one and in about 5 weeks we'll have a pink display. Lucky, huh! I wonder if the pink flowers will have a hint of white about them this year. This late afternoon sunshine is the best thing about today. It's been warm but very grey and dull and has totally matched my mood; I think I must be tired - the odd hours that I've done as a returner to work have thrown me and I can't seem to catch up. Pathetic huh! I've been at home more than out today and still don't seem to have got much done, and I am a girl (by gender, if not age) that likes to achieve something. I may be a skilled procrastinator, but it doesn't matter if the things that get ticked off the list are months overdue, huh! Anyway, enough whingeing; I'm sure my stamina will be restored and a new routine will be a good thing. Meanwhile, I'm off to sit in that elusive sun with a cup of tea. No point starting anything else now!

  7. I've never seen one that colour before it's stunning! I remember when I lived in Scotland a house down the road had grafted two trees together at the trunk and every year this tree had a head half full of pink blossoms and half full of white blossoms at the same time, it was gorgeous. I also remember just before we moved back down here that new people moved in and there was rumblings that the tree was going to be cut down. I hope it wasn't - it would have been such a tragedy.

  8. Oh Julia you and the sky summed up my day today also!! Dull & grey!! No crafting done again and had to stay on at work an extra 4 hours to just get through massive pile of work.

Hope you get that routine sorted soon :)

  9. GORGEOUS, i love a pretty garden but can stand gardening myself..can you send some of that sunshine here it is soooooo cold and winter doesnt "officially" start for a couple of weeks..

as to the "mystery" of how I can still "create" whilst soooo busy (not all are new cards)...ssshhhh...no mystery..lol. On the house front we have brought one and are now going thru settlement on it as well as in negotiations to sell ours..so not looking forward to packing two houses into one...gulp.. lol

  10. Beautiful, i love peonies, especially pink tinged white ones, my parents have a deep pink one but it doesn't float my boat like the pale ones do. Fingers crossed for no rain!

  11. i remember when I was younger - my grandma had a lovely peony (i was chuffed with myself that i could always recognise peonies) - anyway it was the colour of beetroot... i used to pull the heads off and peel the petals one by one - I'd give me a right good slap if I was my child (if that makes sense)...

Anyway, its not good to hear that Mrs D felt grey :O(

Hope you are feeling in the pink today (yes its really early in the morning and I haven't been to bed yet)!!! In heaps of pain and procrastinating myself - that is going to bed - i kind of put it off knowing how much discomfort I will be in - so instead, ive done some more order of service cards.

Hope you feel brighter - happy Friday (thats got to be good - right?)!!!

  12. Julia, tis a beautiful peony. When we lived at home (ie where I grew up, lol) we had a lovely dark red peony, colour sounds a bit like the one Paula described, it was gorgeous. Only have a patch of garden at the front of my maisonette so not much space (nor inclination, truth be told - though I LOVE garden visiting); I would love a peony. Hope your day today is sunnier in all aspects.
