What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday ? 47

Well yesterday whilst browsing my Reader thingy, (I'm quite behind) I noticed Ramona was showing how she stores her bling. Now, because I'm a woman of enormous self control and possess an almost supernatural 'that's-enough-o-meter', I have less bling than the Paper Princess. As in, she has two boxes. I however, have magically realised that removing all the packaging and excess cardboard doubles the capacity of a box! Smug huh! So here's mah bling, sistahs.

As for my desk...well, bad light despite the lovely day because the sun doesn't arrive here until about 3 o,clock, and I can't wait that long - I wanna be part of the party!
You can just see a card with a photo on it - an invitation to a friend's 50th birthday party, it was waiting for a reply card to be made. Honestly, some of my friends are twice my age.
And maybe you can see the lovely deep yellow card in the bottom right - it's from Lyn and contained a length of ribbon from the Maison du Chocolat. She was kind enough to say she thought of me when contemplating the ribbon. It's a very, very long piece of ribbon. It must have been a H U G E box of chocs. Am slightly crushed that she didn't think of me when she saw the actual chocs. It's a beautiful card too, I will try to photo it properly later.
I'm mid preparation for a workshop on Thursday and for the crop on Saturday. I can't decide what to do - and if I go unprepared, I'll do nothing, of course! The Copics are out and meaning business, I'm still pants at using them, I've discovered that I need the other set to get a really good mix of near blendable numbers. And that's just a lot more money for more colours innit! The basket of stamps waiting to be cleaned is becoming unmanageable, so it'll probably only last another week or so before I cave in and do something. I've removed two things to take the photo - a gift that I can't reveal for obvious reasons. and, brace yourself - the last thing I did last night? Dump my WOYWWAC project on the desktop! YES - I am actually getting on with it. Which means that I'm doing more than one project at once. This usually freaks me out, so you'll be the judge of whether I can or not, huh - at week 52's reveal!

Join in then - upload a photo of your desk/top/tray/sofa/bench/floor/drawers (take a breath) - wherever you're working. Show us what you're working on and let us see what you've got. It doesn't have to be a craft or indeed a paper craft - just show and tell! Lovely. If you don't have a blog but wanna join in - email me a piccy and I'll tag it onto this post. Leave a link in the linky thing and slowly but surely, we'll drop in for a look see. Can't wait. IF you wanna go public, grab a button for your blog - in the left sidebar.

And don't forget the Week 52 First Year Anniversary Challenge. WOYWWAC. You don't have to have contributed a desk every week for a year to join - it's just a bit of fun! Make something lovely to enhance your work space......desktop, wall, floor, whatever! The challenge is to include the famous letters WOYWW on it somehow somewhere. How hard can it be?

  2. WOW Julia you have been busy and still are, never enough hours in the day eh. You have some lovely friends sending you ribbon etc, think I need to train some of my friends LOL. Loved your last few cards by the way and the christmas one too, how organised is that, perhaps I should start on mine, afterall it is May nearly. Sitting here with my pup on my knee thinking I really must go to work, shame. Oh well happy Wednesday Julia, Tracy x x x

  8. Your work desk always looks so used. Those Copic Markers really stun me. I've never even seen one, much less own any.

Sorry your friend didn't save you any chocolate. But the ribbon will be far more useful and less fattening!

Have a happy WOYWW. And thanks for being the host of this fun new addiction.

  9. Hi Julia

Ha ha I may just have to show you my bling one of these days!

  10. Isn't taking things OFF your desk somewhat against the spirit of this Wednesday thing? Ok then I accept your excuse, but am deeply shocked at the very idea of a basket of stamps WAITING TO BE CLEANED! Tsk tsk. Love the glimpse of bling, might need a box for mine too.
PS I give up - what is WOYWWAC??
PPS Have I asked you that before??

  11. Love all the bling, glad I'm not the only one who doesn't clean stamps, lol.

  12. WOW Julia I love the copics on your desk. What gorgeous colours and you've been so busy! I clean my stamps but they are all thrown in a box. Must get organised! Happy crafting! Kathleen x

  13. You have been so busy this week Julia. Ribbon off chocolates? I'd want to eat at least one of the chocolates first. I managed to snaffle the ribbon of my daughter's brithday cake last night but I have to admit I did eat a slice of cake first :-)

  19. You know I think that's what scares me the most about buying those sets of Copic markers. That i won't need just one set I'll need them all to get some good colouring going on. I think they are lovely pens but the price!!! WOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Where are the weeks going...it only seems like the other night I was leaving comments on the last few entries of last week!!

    Lovin' your box of bling!!!

  21. Hey hunny..I is back...showing off my brand new room of stash in all its glory...oh, ok, it is a boxey tip and looks no different since we moved in ROFL...but I had to just show off that I am so disorganised and I reckon will never have those boxes unpacked LOL hugs xx

    ReplyDelete
  22. Now about yr copics, this is why I didn't buy a set I forsaw the problem you have. I bouch about 12 sketchers first now I top up with ciao and a few extra sketchers when I have some cash. It did mean in the begining I didn't have a few basic colours like yello & blue but I dis have at least 3 shades of the colours I had I wont tel you how many I have now but I only started this year and I have enough lol.

I have been tempted to take the bling out of the packets for more room but then I would forget the names of them If I wanted o get more lol

I can't believe I have completely forgotton about the project for the desk (my illness) I should right something down on a post it note and I won't forget then. This is something I am really looking fwd to seeing I have to admit it's going to be even more exciting looking round next week.

    Love Dawn xx

  24. oooh, I haven't even started my woywwac project yet... but working on more than one project at a time is no news to me =) I have half finished things all over the place

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love the view out of your window, all I have is a blank wall.!that could be my next project paint somthing on the wall. All the Copics! I have about 6 as I have no idea how to use them and they are a small fortune over here.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I too usually have more than one thing on the go, but afraid as yet my WOYWWAC is not one of them. Time is a problem at the moment, but I'm trying. In a way hearing others are in the same boat is reasuring - too many and we'll sink, but on the bright side I can swim - hope you can!!! ikki

  27. Great looking desk Missus ... and colouring Tilda's ... now who would do a thing like that :0)

  28. Love seeing your desk. Oh off to think about something for the anniversary. I too have my bling in a box but there is not much. Think some may have to fall in to my basket next time I shop!!! LOL
    Thanks for hosting again, Hazelxox

  33. Fabulous bling - i think I have even done my link properly this week.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love the desk today, Julia. As for copics, I started with a set and the skintones set, but soon discovered that I needed others to be able to blend - I recommend buying them individually, then you can get the better variety - I've built up quite a few pastel colours which are great for getting a light colour but can be used to go over and get a deeper blend. x

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love the packaging tip. It's very crafty! But did you have to make me thing about chocolate?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wednesday is fast becoming my favourite day of the working week!!! I'm a Promarker girl, prefer the harder nib to the Copic brush, but hey, either way, it costs lots of money!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh-my goodness I'd forgotten all about the WOYWWAC, you could've given us a tiny peek at yours!! We can't zoom in on your desk so I'm thinking is that a little shoe with needles in? And if you reallly don't want your lovely (I'm drooooling)copic pens any more, send them to MEeeeeeeeeeeee!! Although I'm sort of into ProMarkers but they don't seem to last very long... or do I keep buying the set the girl in the shop's be using I wonder!! She sold me an empty gel pen once! I asked, is this white or clear, she said clear...no!! empty!!! WOYWWAC...hummmmm my brain is still empty.. ((Lyn))

  45. I put all my packets on a very large book ring and then I can flip through them to find the bling I want... it works as otherwise I tend to forget that I have them!! Now why would someone send you ribbon from a choccie box and not enclose a choccie? Pffft!!
I ahven't started my project yet... I am still in the thinking stage...

  46. Am doing this so much that no serious crafting or housework is getting done. Julia get those stamps cleaned or else. I use Stampin'Up cleaning spray thing and am just treating myself to their scrub pad-my old scrub pad has seen better days. Well worth having one. I ran my first stamps under the tap -wood mounted -didn;t know any better! They survived.Hugs BettyXXX Thanks for the official genius status-I always knew I was!Pity it doesn't carry over into the rest of my lifeLOL

  47. Hi Julia! Just joined your party, am a little late as I see it's week 47 already! I enjoyed looking at all the work places that I got brave and decided to show my mess! I'm going to see if anyone's place is messier than mine! I didn't take out ANYTHING although I was sorely tempted to! But if I started cleaning I wouldn't have been able to post anything!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I keep me bling in two little tins... one for pearls one for crystal types, and I take them out of the packets to save space. Will someone please tell me what "pants" means!!! Think it means awful or bad or something! Sucks sometimes being an ex-pat!!! You end up neither one thing or the other as your home country moves on without you and the second you open your mouth in your new country you mark yourself as a foreigner!! Never, ever saw you as a Copic girl Julia, didn't think you followed the crowd!!!

    Brenda

  49. multi project hey? that's me all over.

no wonder you need something chemical to clean your stamps with if you leave them that long before cleaning them.

  50. LOve the box of bling. Have updated but it's a bit different.

Oh and I have just messaged you on facebook as I have broke my phone and lost all of the numbers on it xx

  59. I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!
There's no way I could keep ALL my bling in one place. It is organized (hah!) in the areas where I would use it. Such as holidays, wedding, baby, etc... There is a draw full of general/extra/over flow also. I'm gonna shut up now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Julia You are talented He is talented and I keep burbling along. Love the bags by Sue too-not sure fancy pegs would really influence purchasing but would defend to the death your right to make them. Love the cards but will not be buying any more stamps. Too busy with WOYWW to make cards. You witch you BettyXXX

    ReplyDelete
  61. LOL! I think it's cute that you are afraid of more than one project at once. I have FOUR on my photo today and there are a couple that didn't even make the shot! LOL! I'm always all over the place!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Busy lady! Just take the projects one step at a time! I love your bling storage - but only one drawer! You may get your "girly" card revoked. (lol) Thanks for hosting WOYWW & I hope you hit over 100 today!

  66. Added myself on the right day this week and might even get around to visiting more than a couple of the other WOYWWers although the way this is growing it'll be taking all week soon!

I have a bling box but it isn't big enough. I don't have that much bling but some of the larger packs just won't fit in it with or without packaging LOL

    ReplyDelete
  67. Julia, to answer your question...sadly (or happily) I have multiples and extras and too much stash for one person! Ha! Most of it is color coordinated so I know where to look to find what I need. I really don't like digging in a cram packed drawer which is what it would be with the amount of stuff I have. (too much info, sorry! lol)
    xx kat

  71. I wish to comment that I admire everyone's dedication. If I am to take part this week at all, I will be late. Please see my blog for the reason - it's those two little letters again, "M & S" - and I don't mean where I go to buy my big knickers.

Well done everyone; it's only my second week and I'm a failure already! I may, in fact, not be able to join in as I have to review my PC usage again. Silly old eye-to-brain thing.

I'll go and play with my Promarker collection - I do have news of it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Phew I made it but so late today lol, I can only begin to imagine how much money those copic blendable colours are going to cost I am still trying to sort out my blendable batch lol, I think it will just be easier to buy in one go lol lol. Joey.xxx

  83. Wow, I'm flattered - top billing on your post! I'm fortunate to belong to a few trading groups, that's how I've built my collection up! I've rid myself of a lot of packaging on other types of embellishments, but haven't stripped it all away on the bling because I have problems with it coming loose at times even in the packaging. Maybe that's because it's stuffed in there so tight - but I'm trying not to add a third box, lol!

I love the view from your window. Great desk photos!
