What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 46

So this week sees more desk action, I can sit for longer and am actually getting stuck into some work. Some cards siting at the back waiting to go into little bags for a sale, some instructions for a folded card and the first real attempt - not rocket science, but it wouldn't be for me, huh! And a lovely shot of my plain scraps box too, for those that have heard me brag about my success with it but can't envisage it. Am still happy with how it works for me. Patterned papers are stored similarly but obviously, separately - and not colour optioned - that would require difficult decisions!
And finally, Kate wanted a 'full frontal' of my untidy stamp shelves. They looked alright in real life, but now I realise that I must have a moment or three of organisation!

We want to see what you're up to this week - take a pic of your work space - no matter what you're currently doing - load it onto your blog and then link it here - we'll swing by, gawp at your work in progress and rummage in your stuff. Lovely. It takes a while to visit all the desks - be patient. AND - be generous, leave a comment; we know in a lot of cases this is a promotional aide, but it doesn't mean that you should ignore those of us who just wanna show you around!

WOYWW HOUSEKEEPING:
Here we are on the run up to a year of WOYWW! I have to admit that I thought it must surely be getting boring by now, but I actually really like seeing what everyone's up to - it's only my desk that gets boring! Anyway, all this is a preface to a WOYWW Anniversary Challenge. Yes, the WOYWWAC. Be still my heart, these pointless acronyms just get better! Angie's idea, I seriously hadn't thought that it was an important enough anniversary to make anything of it, but hey - why shouldn't we! June the second. 2/6/2010 - or if you're on the USA side of the pond, 6/2/2010 is the actual 52nd week. That's over a month people to get something off the ground and make a project to fit the challenge criteria. Because we all do different things and because WOYWW is not about competition, more about our desks, here's the challenge: Make something (anything) that will beautify your workspace - desk, tray, wall, window, seat - blah, wherever you craft. The catch? Somehow, however discreetly, include the famous acronym WOYWW. You don't have to register or join or follow to enter, just like WOYWW - your entry will be your regular WOYWW post on week 52 showing your finished project in situ, enhancing your workspace. There will be prizes, and they will not be randomly selected. Sissy Dunnit will choose. OK? Have a bash, it'll be fun!

There is also rumbling talk of the desire for a WOYWWers meet up - would you express any vague interest in your comment please? I'm thinking sometime over the Stitches Exhibition at the NEC in October.

  18. 2nd of June of also my daughter's birthday!. Will have a think about how I can beautify my desk

  19. Morning Julia - glad to hear your back is easing up. Being an organiation freek (i never said a tidy one), I like your idea of the scraps box - i certainly could fill a few - do you have a limit to the size that you will keep? Impressive stamp collection too.

Like the sound of the challenge - brain is whirring already (could be the meds tho!)... and you KNOW i'm up for a meeting... Also I think a SKYPE conference would be good - its free and its on the PC - which we obviously all use - and its easy - me and Wipso have been Skyping - also I've been online with Cher from Cheryls Window in Florida who recently joined in with WOYWW...

Right, enough rambling, I'm off to start the visits... gonna take my time this week - I haven't got a rush in me =(

Thanks as ever for you wonderful hosting skills - very much appreciated.

  25. Oohh Julia, you've moved your jar of flowers across your desk! Have you used them then?!! Not that I'm obsessed with your flower jar or anything!

Great idea for a challenge too. I wasn't in at the very beginning, but it's surprising how the time has flown and wow you came up with a blinding idea just out of being nosey.

I'd love to meet up but sadly those crafty events are just too mad for me to go to, but I'd be with you in spirit xx

  26. Hi Julia,

I love the idea of an anniversary challenge, thank goodness it is a month or so away to give me time to think about the challenge LOL. You look like you have been very busy this week on your desk and achieving lots, well done you. By the way I blame you for my obsession with Wednesday and for the weeks going so quickly. Its better to say that anyway than the fact its my age LOL. Have a good day Julia, Tracy Evans x x P.S. I think a get together is a great idea.

  27. Hiya Julia!
Sorry about your back - I have the same problem and we are moving library!!!!! I am avoiding heavy boxes though! I love your idea for the challenge - I am already thinking what to make, also I love the idea of meeting up but I would rather the meeting would be somewhere in London - closer to airports! Maybe autumn ally pally! Still maybe I am the only one from Europe so you shouldn't really decide the way it suits me!
    Hugs,

Your desk looks really busy today, I'll be popping back to see what you've been making. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your second photo though - because today I've added a photo of my stamp and ink collection too - what a coincidence.......

I agree with your 'comment ' comment...although I have to say I get an amazing number on the Wed/Thurs, I know others dont and some who place a link never comment on anyone. well I'm off to load up the washing machine, prep the evening meal, and then get together some refreshments for me so I can sit and nose around later xx

  36. I must be late - number 42 already! I was so interested in your post that I forgot to study your desk! and of course your full frontal!! Will go back and inspect what you've been up to this week. NEC - could be a possibility for me! ikki x

  37. Wow! so much going on here today. Love your stamp corner, Julia. As for the cards to be bagged, I've got that on my mental list to do, but keep avoiding it - you can't see mine today because they are in a cupboard and ought to come out soon - but that bit's boring, isn't it? Love the idea of making something for the anniversary - I'll have to get my thinking cap on - have the germ of an idea floating around my fudddled brain. I'd love to meet up with other WOYWWers but don't travel far these days so I probably wouldn't make it x

  38. I love the idea of a meet up. But could everyone come over to New York instead? I won't be able to fly to the UK in June. Thanks!

PS I took the liberty of making my own acronym up......

  41. Weird that was! I added my link but there was no comment box even though my name had been added :-/ however when I hit refresh it appeared, hmmm.
It all sounds very exciting Julia, I'm up for a meet. I rather like the idea of meeting in New York, bit expensive though. I've already thought of something to do for the challenge (smiles smugly) though it's not like me!

  43. Morning WOYWW er's and rushing down my butty at work and am rushing off for the afternoon in search of birthday pressies. Errmmm, I know I'm not the sharpest techy tool in the box but where is Mr Linky, glad to hear your back is easing Julia and have blogged my desk before the sun goes down, and yes it did have to be planned with precision. LOL

  44. Omg my brain hurts now - I have to try and make something with WOYWW uh oh!?!? I love your shelves - I want some but being in the living room/ dining room it's a little difficult..besides I'd only make a mess of them hehe. A meet up sounds grand - you'll have to give us a date as its not on my calendar...YET!. I'm hoping to get around to some of these blogs this week now little'un is back at school and not constantly asking for food or for me to take her to the park and stuff. Right if I stay here any longer I won't get any where so I'm off.
    Take care

  45. I can't seem to figure out what time you post your linky, since I'm on the other side of the pond. I'm even later this week than last! However, I can't wait to make something that will represent WOYWW.

As for your desk, it looks full, full, full this week. You sure have a lot of stamps. They look pretty tidy to me.

If your plain (and patterned) paper storage works for you, then it is right for you. At least it is organized by how you find things. That's the most important.

Thanks again for being such a great hostess.

    ReplyDelete
  46. What I like about your stamp corner is that you can see everything - mine are in RUBs which works, but then I have to leaf through my catalogue of stamps which isn't in any order except of when I bought them .... hmmm needs thinking about.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I like your scrap box too but I found it didn't work for me so most of my A4 is stored in plastic bags with labels showing colour and sometimes a short description (ie dark green smooth thin) then I always put the bits back in the bags which are stored on my paper shelves (bought from a shop closing down). The paper is protected from dust and light. Sounds too good to be true? You're right! Would love a meet but don't think it would be possible for me. Might rise to your challenge though Hugs BettyXXX

    ReplyDelete
  48. WOW that is a-lo-ooot of stamps LOL!!

Looking forward to joining in this weekly fun LOL!

  49. Hello Peeps, glad to hear your back is easing a bit Julia, nothing worse than not being able to do what you love. Love the idea of WOYWWAC but it would be a double challenge for me as I'll be fresh off a plane, jet lagged, tripping over suitcases, and no doubt the contents of suitcases, driving on the wrong side of the road again and recovering from my first day back at work!! Yuk, that's the bit I'm not looking forward to from coming back off holiday. Lovely to see the stamp shelves again.

  55. Hi Julia,

I'm SO excited about the anniversary challenge! Right before I started to write my post, I was sitting here looking at a gift I received from a friend last night that I was thinking would be a perfect item to alter for my desk - so when I read your post, it was like kismet! So, something to plan for this month. I wish I could join you for the meetup but unless I magically come into riches that one seems unlikely!

Love love love your stamping shelves - I would love something like that to display my woodies on!

It's in my post but I'm supposed to remind you, don't forget to drop by the Organizational Blog Hop when you visit!

  75. Julia ATG guns don't think about it get one now -they are cost effective if slightly temperamental. 3Ms have a suppliers website in the UK and when I got my refills last week they had a sale on and free P and P. They are about £9 at the moment. You will need to buy the tape to go in them. Get the 12mm NOT 19mm and make sure it's the one for card and paper. You get 55metres of adhesive on the reel.I've one or two more tips for using them-just drop me a comment Hugs BettyXXX
