What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 481

I took this yesterday at tea time because I heard a weather forecast for gloom, so I thought ahead. Then it turns out I've had to edit the picture to add light because it was actually quite gloomy in here anyway! You can tell it's been edited...that light flare is so unreal looking! 
Drag your eyes away from Mr Dunnit's mini sandpit (he SAYS he mixes concrete in it for the bricks) and look at my desk.  There's to be another Marython card making day,which is the only reason I'm entertaining Christmas thoughts. And they are not thoughts of JOY believe me, whatever my desk seems to say! Centre is a new Distress Oxide that I treated myself to, and next to it a new Encore! Gold pigment ink pad. These are getting rare in the UK, so I bought another for reasons of Just In Case. Apparently yesterday I was keeping my fluids up like a good gal, although of course this morning it's all about the Java. The ripped up book is a Concordat. It's over 60 years old and according to someone  Reverend, very out of date. So, re-use, re-cycle, re-invent. Or something. I bet not a scrap of it ends up on the card I'm trying to pull out of my head!
Show and tell then friends, and inspire us (me) do!

    the Joy stamp looks great (but possibly hard to get a good image from..or is that just me) I hope you get the card you wanted sorted. At least with cards for the Marython it's a good cause. I like the sandpit! Have a good week. Helen

    As always, a very inspiring desk - I love using old book pages in collages :) And yes, I've been stalking since 6.30am to try and nab top spot... competitive? moi??

    No sun here for several days. Lots of fog/gloom and misty rain. No complaints as Monday's outing proved some towns had 5 to 10 inches or rain. Glad we were home early. Old books are such a temptation to me. I buy and never have the heart to tear them up. Right now thoughts of "Fall" decorating and card making are making me smile. Hoping I have the ambition when I awake. But sounds like tomatoes will be calling. Enjoy a lovely week.

    I am sure inspiration will strike and you’ll make a great card, Julia. Are you just using the book pages in other projects or will the book itself be transformed? Hope your hubby enjoys playing in his sandpit lol lol! Mine likes playing with toy trains. I suppose it’s good because it keeps them occupied and stops them robbing banks and bashing up old ladies - always a worry when they retire and have time on their hands haha!

    I'm loving your desk but really need to see what's going on through the window as this seems to have been going on for some time and being nosey I need to see the progress!     The sandpit made me smile! I look forward to seeing the finalised card. Using old books that are out of date is a great use for them - you can get some fascinating phrases from old religious books that can be so appropriate for Christian festivals including Christmas.     Hi Julia, totally with you on the Encore pads, I love mine. I got reinkers for a few, even they are getting hard to find now, but then again, I think any reinkers other than the Distress ones are hard to get over here. Mind you, the Encore pads seem to last forever, don't they?

    Hi Julia, interesting photo today. The sandpit looks fun! I think I may be the only crafter on the planet that does not own one distress oxide! I've resisted because I have so many distress inks that I'd feel disloyal if I changed my allegiance - besides I've nowhere to store them.     Lots of goodies on your desk and looks very active. Editing pictures is a pain after managing to remember and find the time to snap them and post them having to edit them is just a nuisance. If only cameras could see like our clever eyes!

    Shame we don't live closer. Mr. D could use Bob's small electric cement mixer. I questioned him buying the thing years ago but it has not only mixed cement but potting soil and bird seed. LOL So if Mr. D every looks at one, it is a good investment. ;-)

    Hi Julia. My hubby also buys lots of things Just in Case. I fear I might have caught it from him too since I started crafting. Oh well, I'll have plenty of crafting kit when I eventually retire!     Your desk is quite busy. Funny how we plan on a card one way and it never gets there (old book). I"m starting to see desks with some Christmas projects besides mine! Cool! I'm not alone out there! LOL! Hope you have a great rest of the week!

    Hi Julia, I honestly did not see the sand pit until I read the words and then had to go looking for it. I love seeing old book pages on things so, maybe having the JOY letters cut and inked from it could be cool?

    Thank you for your visit, Julia, and for your kind words about my felting! I wish I was a bit more nimble fingered because I've lost count how many times I've stabbed myself with a felting needle - very painful indeed! The scarf is going to be fairly OTT but it will be fun. I'm just glad the leaking bottle in my felt box didn't do more damage. My rolling pin had gone black but after soaking in a bucket with bleach for a few days, it's fine again. It's never used for cooking, anyway.

    Hi Julia, thanks for your visit... And thanks for keeping WoYWW going for all this time - it's great to play along again. I was really looking forward to making the cushion covers I mentioned, but when I dug deep into the airing cupboard I discovered that I no longer had the gorgeous jacquard fabric duvet cover I was after. No idea where that went, but I did find two lovely cream throws, so it wasn't all bad! Have a great weekend, Jo x

    Hi Julia I've popped back as you were asking about the dragon eyes. They are supposed to be for an art drop in the park for people to find part of Lincoln Art Ninja group but at the moment they are sat on the window sill in the conservatory and friends keep begging for them. I have given one away but finding it difficult to let them go so for now they are staying where they are and may have to just make something else for the art drop, we shall see.
