Go straight to Friday...

...pass the rest of the weekdays in a whirlwind of doing stuff and do not stop until you make time to blog.  Bet this sounds familiar, huh.
I cannot explain the frightening speed of time - and no thanks, please don't get all physics on me.  I will simply keel over and sleep for a week.  And I apparently need to stop sleeping in order to fit stuff in!  
So today I bring you a couple of cards that I've actually started and finished for workshops. This star was from last week...I used Reynolds freezer wrap to make the envelope..you see here it has a piece of red card in it.  When I use it, it will contain money.  Of the folding variety, but not the red colour unfortunately.  Red(ish) is the colour of our £50 note.  Rare in these parts, believe me!  You could quite easily change this into a Christmas card...a gift card in the pocket and some more appropriate text.  Ooh, thinking on my feet here.  See, I'm trying to trick you into talking about Christmas really.  I mean, if I have to - why shouldn't you!



 Here's an offering for my first Christmas card workshop this year. Next week. *sigh*.  It's very straightforward and my word, they need to be don't they.  The 'bling' is foil.  The stamps are Stampendous (text) and Magenta.  A classic card design..use the text over and over to make the background..even while I was stamping, it took me back to the early days when large background stamps weren't 'invented' yet, and printed papers and all the scrapbook stuff hadn't arrived on UK shores.  Unthinkable now, huh!

 Tomorrow, Shopkeeper Gal celebrates her first anniversary in her new premises.  To celebrate, there is a professional demonstrator in store who will be using Woodware and Stix 2 products.  I'm going over after lunch if anyone would like to come with me. The shop is called Kraft Crazy and is at Unit 3 Stonehenge Walk, Amesbury, Wilts SP4 7DB.
Yep, Stonehenge..if you're flying in to get a lift with me, I'll even swing round to the Monument for you.  But don't ask me to explain much about it..it's like the speed of time. I can't.

    I really like both cards. The embossing set the simple envelope off and made it look quite expensive. Great use of the background stamp on the second card, too. What? You mean scrapbook paper didn't used to be printed? Or double sided? (grin)

    I really like the star card. Would be a great 'congratulations on your exam results' type card. I have some Reynolds freezer paper (at least I think that's what it is!) but not sure it would make a nice envelope like yours.

    I love the star card Julia. The freezer wrap envelope sounds interesting - might look that up to see how its done. Oh and ....Can you imagine me and Annie sharing a broomstick then!!! x Jo

    Love that first card Julia... could adapt that to fit other seasons (see, I am still avoiding the C cards)!!

    Love your cards but I am not ready to make them yet - I said I would make 1 Christmas card a week - never happened! Wish I could fly in and come with you to the shop - ha, ha not yet but maybe soon!

    Great cards Julia!! On your recommendation about the freezer paper I saw some at Newbury and grabbed a box. It's still on the floor where I left it, unopened... hey ho! Hope you zoom by the workshop and have a blast.

    Both are fab cards but I adore the star one - would make a super Christmas card either with a star or perhaps swapped for a snowflake.

    Well done, Julia! I learned something new about using freezer paper to make little giftie bags, so TFS!!

    So. You live a stone's throw from Stonehenge, eh? And I'm not far from the Golden Gate Bridge, so we can be tour guides for each other when we visit these beloved monuments! How about that?!

    Hey, J, who is the desker who is crazy for rocking horses? It is eluding my teeny gray cells. I didn't join in this week, but I did publish a funny cartoon featuring a rocking horse and I want to make sure she sees it. Thanks in advance!!

    I like the stitching! Actually I love it! Wish I could get industrious enough to use my sewing machine! Have fun thinking about Christmas- I get nervous! It's the busiest time of the year for our shops and if we don't prepare right, we lose sales and that's a sorry state of affairs. So we've got our 2014 planners and calendars already printed and Peggy is designing Christmas cards. At least I hope she is! Patsy

    Both cards are fantastic and good for you getting that start on Christmas it's only 114 days to the blessed festive time, Oh that is really scary, lol.

    I would love to fly in and get you to pick me up but I think I missed the plane, maybe another time.

    I think you are very lucky to HAVE to start Christmas early. That would be the only way I would not be running around on the 20th of December with the other procrastinators. Your cards are beautiful. I only have a couple "real" stamps and some I make from meat packages :) Hope you had a great time at the Anniversary celebtation. Its really hard for me to think you live near Stonehedge. It always looks so empty around there on TV. Hugs, Rasz!

    Oh my! I am loving the Stampendous text on your second card. That is why I'm so glad patterned paper was invented! No, not because of getting socks and underwear, but because I hate, hate, hate trying to make my own backgrounds. I can't be trusted to stamp it out right over and over for that much space. As soon as I discovered stamping I discovered patterned paper, which wasn't that popular so when I did find it I snapped it up and guarded it with my life. I like your cards, but I refuse to think Christmas. Nope, won't do it. Can't make me. neener neener! And bummer, the leer jet is in the shop so have fun without me!!

    Oh my dear Julia, your so funny, I love the background, I still stamp mine like that:) and will use that idea for my Christmas cards if you don't mind me using your idea, different stamps of course, mine are an american make which I got as a gift. Both cards are lovely, love that star, thanks for making me think of Christmas, I think :O). thanks for sharing..
