What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 537

Look familiar? I sat down to make a card and the whole afternoon went by. I got the card done though.

The paper pad at right is there because I finished a scrapbook LO and neglected to put that part of the stash away...I must have been keen to just clear the desk and start on the card! On top of that is the empty hot chocolate powder drum that I use as a bin. I haven’t covered it yet. It’s doing the job, see, so there’s no rush! In front of the acrylic drawers are some more silicone moulds filled with the foamy ‘clay’ stuff. I spent a very pleasant five minutes kneading and squishing. There will be swirls, feathers, stars and flowers. I hope, anyway. The trial I did a couple of weeks ago worked perfectly well...but I can’t find them. I probably threw them away on a wild tidying up spree. The mini guillotine at the front of the pic isnt as precariously balanced as it looks, its actually sitting flat on top of my ‘everyday’ dies storage file. It will be magically tidied at lunchtime today, I have workshop kits to prepare and I need to stick to my plan of trying to make at least one decent card a day!
I’m incredibly sorry if my name didnt appear in your comments last week...the days just got away from me. Whilst we come to terms with the speed of time, please post your WOYWW and link here; thank you very much.

Definitely sounds familiar, I can sit for half a day pondering on what to put onto a card.
Swirls, feathers, stars and flowers sound good - but what are you going to use them for? Enquiring minds want to know - hope you show us the results soon.
Hugs, neet 1 (another sleepless night) xx

I hope your moulds turn out well, I look forward to seeing the results so don't lose this lot!! Are they for you or a class? Good luck with the card for the class . Helen #2

Yep time....that sounds SO familiar!
The scrap paper pad on the right looks like some lovely designs and be interested to see how your foam/clay turns out. I made some lightweight moulds with air drying and loved them but ended up using resin as I had a lot to use up! looking forward to see how they turn out

Happy WOYWDW Julia, and thanks for letting us see all the other desks

I know what you mean I keep saying to myself put everything away when you have finishes with it BUT it never happens Lol.

Happy WOYWW. Great to be back, although typing a blog post on my IPad was more difficult than hoped. I should have walked upstairs and used my pc! Your desk looks busy, as always. Not having much craft stash now definitely means it is easier to clear up afterwards. Ali x. #9

Yes me too! I sit, I walk about, I sit again, I waste paper....and still can't get my head round a project some times. All that stash sounds interesting though and look forward to seeing how you use it. Have a lovely crafty week and a happy woyww, Angela x10x

The squishy stuff sound interesting - I'd probably spend all my time squishing and not actually making anything! That is an impressive pile of essential craft supplies (or stuff, if you prefer) on your desk. It's a skill ;-)

Oh dear, the "sit and think" time spent well or wasted depending on whether you remember what the5 thinking wss about, and if it was profitable.
Keep going at the card a day, but can you share some with us next week?
Well done

I like the idea of squishing that clay - a good stress buster and "time to think" activity! xx Jo

For me a card a day is just too ambitious! It seems the older I get the easier it is for me to get distracted! I spend a great deal of time looking out my window watching the birds! Can't wait to see what comes out of your moulds!

Oh how lovely to spend half a day crafting and well done you for making a card by the end of it. It's been rather manic since we got back from our holidays but I'm hoping to get a bit of time soon to be creative with my new purchase :-)
Hugs,

You must have had fun for the time to go by so fast! Crafting time can be a bit like going down a wormhole - but if we're lucky, we've got something to show at the end of it! Happy #537!

Good morning Julia!! Yep time has a way of just slipping through one's fingers!! Hubby has retired now and we are still coming to terms with that, and one of the things he is starting to realise is that you have to impose your own structure on the day if you want to get anything done. And even then its not a given!! Life is disgustingly good at the mo, even if mega busy - hope the same goes for you. I have been absent for weeks I shall never catch up so I won't even try. Love n hugs, Cindy

I so understand the speed of time. Just flies as if the hands were spinning backwards.. you know like the auto wheels show on television programs. I also am striving for one card a day. If I'm to build my on-line stampin' Up! business I have to be posting every day - AND the social media that goes along with it. Determined! Creative Blessings! Kelly # 22ish

Hi Julia, I be you'll find the 'lost' clay embellishments any day now - I'm sure you wouldn't have thrown them away. If you can keep up the card a day you'll be doing incredibly well. I've tried in the past and failed miserably. Looks like we both found it difficult finding time last week and hoping to better this week - for me, that's starting here :) Have a wonderful week. Hello my dear friend across the pond! I like your idea of a card a day. I am slowly getting my mojo. Some days I am a serious procrastinator. I was suppose to be making cards to replenish my Etsy shop but instead I color in my coloring books or clean out a drawer, or fold clothes. So I need to get on it because I would really like to sell items again. My boys are out on a half day in about an hour so I am hustling around now before I have to go get them. Have a blessed day my friend and when you have time, stop by my desk.

It is amazing how time moves so fast when I'm up in my craft room. I swear I'll only be there for a short time but then hours have gone by. Have a great week! Dorlene #27

Hi Julia! I am in Idaho visiting a friend that I have known since I was 16 yrs! Not much crafting but we did figure out how to use that purple thing and makes envelopes! Took the two of us!
Already mailed a box of clothes home. The weather was changing so I packed pants and shorts.
And we have done our fair share of “hunter gathering “ since I do not have any craft stores. :(
And I will be paying the extra bag fee at the airport! I flew rather than driving because she live 10 hours away!
Happy Wednesday!

I think you have about as many projects going on as I have!
I'm slowly getting around the list but I really would like to go take a nap after scrubbing paint off the bathroom floor and painting baseboard and trim!
Hope you get all accomplished that you want/need!
Have a great week!

I try to put things away when I finish a project. However, between my seminarian work, art work, and more, I can never keep my desk clear. Happy belated WOYWW!

You do have a lot happening on your desk this week! My "new and improved" room is very calming, and I can finally get some mojo going! Thanks for your visit, and Happy Belated WOYWW! Lindart #25

It's really annoying when you throw things out by mistake, isn't it! I have done it a few times and sometimes have managed to rescue things by going through the bin. I hope your renewed efforts with the squishy clay were successful. Thank you for your visit and sorry to be so long replying but it's been a busy few days. I think I am making some progress with the bleaching technique and hope to have something to report tomorrow. The wood blocks are gorgeous and need to get more airings than they have had so far!

Happy belated WOYWW,
