What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 401

Truth be told, there's work on my workdesk. Not very exciting, but certainly inspiring. Or motivational - as soon as I've done it, it doesn't need to be on the desk and I can get back to card making. Or sorting out some kits for a scrapbooking session. It's all to do!
Last year's accounts book features because the VAT return for our last quarter awaits, and it includes November and December. More interestingly, a Bluetooth speaker awaits my attention. See, we went to visit my lovely mate Jan and her fabulous Gordon at the weekend. Among all the non-stop talking was a segment where I may have moaned about the volume on my iPad. I trail it around the house with me, listening to talking books, and in the kitchen, I struggle to hear it if the kettle's on or the taps are running. Gordon just calmly said - 'oh, you need a Bluetooth speaker' and a light bulb went on in my head! He'll never know what a brilliant and simple answer this will be. Well, he will, of course, for I shall credit him with a modicum of brilliance if I can get the speaker to go. I can't quite get over the simplicity of it all - I mean, why on earth hadn't I thought of it? Strictly rhetorical question, friends!
So there we are gentle Desker, the shape of my Wednesday desk work is before you. It will improve. I expect a lot of your desks feature Valentine cards  - I shall look forward to the inspiration! Share and tell, there's a good person.

What would we do without Gordon?! Hope you can get it to work and your volume issue is sorted.. I just have multiple radios (usually all on a the same time) but don't listen to much music or indeed talking books. Have a great week (shame about the VAT) Helen xx

Morning Julia. Well, such a simple solution - not one I would have known anything about - well done to Gordon! Hope the returns aren't too lengthy...
Will speak to the leaders about your email, thanks. Exciting!
Take care. God bless.

Yay, managed single the digit position today - only just. Was awake before you posted this page but took too long doing my own page.
Know what you mean about the sound level on my tablet but know how to plug it in to our Bose systems now in the kitchen and/or my bedroom so that is a help.
Sadly my Valentine's card isn't on view today (just in case DH should see it) I'll show you next week on my Birthday post if I remember. Saying that there are quite a few hearts today on my desk.
Also I have cut out a "L heart V E" to make a card for a SWAP based on one I saw on your desk a while back, I did comment on Facebook at the time, really loved it. Anyway that's me BJ#9

Bluetooth.....nope, me not know what that is.....mind you I actually still have a cassette recirder...no tapes but....! Nor have I made my St.Valentine's card yet, thanks for the reminder! I'm too busy sorting through my crafting stuff. I have an aim to reduce it to two plastic storage units, each with 5 drawers. Happy WOYWW! Anne#10

The mention of vat made me shiver. Fortunately I've done mine but it was a bugger to balance this time, took me ages. I'm old fashioned Julia and still write my books up by hand and at this late stage after 38 years have no nontentions of changing. Keeps the grey matter active anyway.
I have a radio on in every room and would love someone to come and say there you are missus I've set you up piped music throughout the house
I'm a bit of a Luddite in some ways.
Enjoy your week Julia, good luck with the vat return

Hi Julia, I'm not taking part in WOYWW this week, but wanted to see what others are doing.

Hope the accounts got done without too much hair pulling.

The speaker is a good idea, although making the iPad less mobile, unless it clips to the iPad.

Hope you have a lovely week. Sue

You know what Julie???? men do have their uses at times Lol! Sure you'll be pleased when you get the VAT returns out of the way so you can get back to playing again. I'm off to the Gym now, my first day back after several weeks of the stinking cold so wish me luck. Have a great woyww, Angela xXX 20

Hi there and HAPPY WOYWW to all my fellow deskers - not participating this week. I have a (hopefully) minor wrist issue this morning and thought I'd stay off the puter - not fair to enter and have you all comment on my post if I can't pop back and visit yours.

Lovely desk Julia, hope to be back next week

Happy WOYWW

Pardon my ignorance but what do you do with a Bluetooth? Move it from room to room?
I'm with Helen, radio in each room, usually full blast if PJ is out!!
Hope the VAT doesn't stop you too long in getting back to crafting.
Have a good week

Hi Julia, sitting in my chair, gradually getting better at breathing. Smiled at Hublet getting my post scheduled, We'll make a blogger of him yet. Still seems like I might get sent home in the next day or two.

Hell again, friend! Long time no see:) Bluetooth speakers are indeedly very good. My man bought Amazon Alexas for the house. Although not quite a bluetooth speaker, I don't know how I managed to clean the house without the power of non stop Bowie or Queen. VAT is horrid. Thankfully I have an accountant for that. Good luck with yours and hope to be back next week x

Nice and Neat, My son gave me a Blue tooth speaker for my birthday/Christmas. I totally love it. I guess I bugged him enough about my cd problems, and kept telling him I loved the speaker he had in his shop. But being the age that I am I have NO clue on new Tech. Totally agree,Small, no cords, SIMPLE. and WONDERFUL. I like the blue matted photo "gorgeous". Retired...And Not missing any kind of bookwork, much less payroll and tax reports. Have no clue how I did it all. Have a good week Julia, off to visit

Happy WOYWW. A very tidy looking desk this week. I use my phone for all Periscope watching, occasional music playing etc - and the volume on that is super-loud, but hubby uses a bluetooth speaker for his tablet and loves it. OMG - I had not even thought of Valentines (except for adding keywords to my Etsy listings yesterday!). Must remember to make hubby a card. My birthday is on the 13th, and it is our busiest time of year on the farm, so Valentines tends to get almost ignored here. Ali x #29

Oh bollards it's on the 14th - there's still time - thanks for reminding me...though as you say i think the desks might feature love letters this week and the penny would have dropped...I'm so carp at dates and such like... our bluetooth is a floozy - she connects to every wireless device except the one you want so I have to turn off the bluetooth on everything in the barn except the mac to get her to be faithful to me and my music, fab way to be mobile and surrounded by your favourite noise though... I don't envy you the VAT returns! Necessary evil if you're running your own business, I guess. But at least there seems to be some empty space on your desk now, so there's your silver lining! Sometimes we're so set in our ways that we don't think of obvious solutions to pesky problems - been there, done that! Enjoy your audio books! I must say, I'm someone who can't concentrate on outside noise (there's too much noise in my head already) - my hubby drives me crazy with his radio shows. I prefer peace and quiet. I think it has to do with me being an introvert! Have a lovely week, Julia!

Good morning, Miss Julia. Ugh.. Accounts. We still need to get our taxes done but one of the companies Bob worked for is dragging their feet. The blue tooth speaker is an excellent idea. sometimes we know these things, the lightbulb just seems to come on when we hear it from others LOL. Can't wait to see what you work on now that the accounts are out of the way. Creative Blessings! Kelly #35

Don't we all need a Gordon in our lives?! I've got a long list of minor techie gripes which could no doubt easily be solve! I'd love to listen to audio books, sadly though at the minute it would mainly be the Gruffalo and his ilk! Happy crafting, Max #27

I have tax paperwork out this week, too, but it's all on the desk in the office away from the craft room. Have FUN with that new speaker and do let us know how it works!!

No Valentine inspired projects from me. We skipped it in class this year, due to popular request! Your little speaker sounds like the perfect solution.

HI Julia! Anything with numbers throws me right off - so if VAT has anything to do with accounting or numbers -aaaaahhhh!!! Hubby does all that sort of thing in our house! I like idea of a bluetooth -would solve my problems too! Great idea! It's too soon for Valentines for me, first I have to get my Mom's birthday card done, then Valentines! Hubby curls on V-Day, and nothing short of death or serious injury keeps him from curling! So we will celebrate the day the weekend after. Lindart #45

it is that time of year here too! The tax man cometh for his fair share! I used to hate it because of the time it takes and having to pay more money in but our tax person showed us how to pay a little extra and we always get money back at the end! Hope you can get back to card making soon! Bought a wifi speaker this spring and it was awesome...took it storm chasing with us and left it in the hotel! Will take better care next time! Hope you have a great week. Vickie #23

How I dislike putting all the info together for tax season. I'll be starting the end of the month as our son is our accountant and he doesn't want our stuff until mid-March. And my die roller - pokey tool is fabulous! I really use the dental pick end oodles for helping with sticking glue dots and self-adhesive small items to my cards. Isn't it funny how our "light bulbs" work! Love it! Hope you have a great week!

I love the speakers! I hinted at Santa getting a whole house set; but no luck there. Our only problem is the portable one in the kitchen is linked to both mine and hubbies iPad; Shuts everything down when we both are listening.

Good luck with your VAT filings; but yes, the sooner done, the sooner on to funner things!

Aha!! that sounds like a stroke of genius to me!! I take my faithful iPad everywhere with me too = it's covered in ktichen splatters and craftroom blobs, but I can't imagine being without it now, and I get really hacked off when it's drowned out by kettles, husbands, etc ... :o) Have a good week, Annie C #19

I love blue tooth speakers, or speakers in general, all our tvs are connected to speakers, I dont like the sound of tv speakers as they sound very tinny.

Hi Julia! What a great Idea - the speaker! I wouldn't have thought of it either! All my techy interest is art related, I'd be still using a radio with tubes if I were left alone! Thanks again for hosting this fun hop!

Re your comment on my blog (pencils) - why not buy just a couple of them in a colour you like to use with a contrast or one of a different hue and try them. That way you will know whether you like the actual pencils or not. Someone who does a lot of colouring said she will not be buying sets any more as some never get used - sound advice or not?
