What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 265

Oh there's pages to reference across the top of this blog if you would like to know the why and the how of WOYWW.   And then, join in!
So my desk this week is another excuse really.  I've been a bit poorly and so my real craft space is unused and rather neglected.  But, I have a bit of a 'do' coming up and was planning to make props for a photo booth.  I've scaled my plans back rather significantly, but the props were made, and here are the makers, at the table in the conservatory.....meet Laura and Ali.
Sunglasses on heads..because they're very trendy...and it had just finished being sunny and had poured with rain. They are decorating beards, glasses, moustaches..you know the thing. I was doing the strenuous bit and sticking them onto the cake pop sticks.  Honestly, my will to craft is not bouncing back as I thought it would! Note my 'scrap box' on the right - so large and full that really it's hard to distinguish.
I know many of you would love a deep green garden view like this...but in the 10 days we were in Spain and the 2 weeks I've spent sitting in a chair looking at it since we got back, it's turned into a jungle and I'm really at the stage of trying not to look!

So there we are Deskers - now show us yours please - as much fun but possibly more tidy than this view.  Although - and don't faint...I have cleared and tidied that table top completely since 'we' finished!

Good to see signs of activity, even if you're not doing much, lol! The garden looks fine to me, and you'll get to it when you can! Enjoy the weekend...

Never fear...it will come back, and you'll tame the garden, and soon it'll all feel like a distant memory, the summer of 2014 :). You did say you had been working on the Christmas Card Marathon so that's a start. Lovely to have crafty friends so close, isn't it?
Have a happy WOYWW day

Hi Julia sorry to hear that you're still feeling fragile & progress seems slow! Hope your strength and energy return and you will start to feel better very soon, Don't fret about the garden, just consider it a wildlife support project! Take care Ali xx #5

Ah Julia I know that no bounce feeling ..... It will end just give it time. You have the 'do' to look forward to it sounds like it will be a lot of fun especially if you are organising it.
Take it easy and pretend you are in the jungle

I love your space but yes can see garden is tad rampant.. but all in good time .. you do need to recuperate!! :D and pray you're soon back to being yourself.

You know it does look like a jungle out there! :)But I love all that green! I was hoping you would be back to your normal self this week! I am sure this will pass. It always takes longer, the older we get, to get over things. Even a sprained muscle takes a year to heal! I know about that one. Well, I couldn't sleep, so I posted my Blog at 12:30 Wed morning, but for some reason it says I did it at 10:30 Tuesday night. So what time are we on??? I will never figure all this out! Happy WOYWW!

What a better way to recuperate than with friends to make you smile! Now you just need to make friends with a handsome chap who likes gardening!

Gardens have a habit of doing that, unfortunately! I am sure you'll soon lick it back into shape, though, but in the meantime I hope you can rest and recover, and that you will soon feel a lot better. Nice to see some crafty activity going on there, too!

Have a great week, and happy WOYWW.

Oh Julia, so sorry to hear you are feeling like not crafting yet. Hopefully it will soon pass and you will be back in full swing. Hopefully too, you will soon start to pick up from the operation, but remember - you did have quite a surgery back there. Not to mention a scare being taken ill like that whilst on holiday.
The photo booth sounds great - gives me an idea for something in the future (if I remember that far ahead) if you don't mind me pinching the idea..
Take care, get well and sod the garden!

Glad you are on the mend, albeit slowly - just relax and enjoy watching other people work - make the most of it as it doesn't happen that often I'm sure!

I'm giggling here, I did a workshop for six ladies over a month ago and I still haven't cleared the table with all the buttons, threads, scissors etc on. Lazy tart.
I'm so glad you are on the mend Julia. Don't do to much though. Hmm, is that like saying it to myself ??

Hi Julia I'm sure you will find your enthusiasm for crafting will return. I think you still recovering - it takes time ( I know someone who had same - she got taken in to hospital one Xmas Eve :-( - it took her a while to feel completely well) garden will get sorted! Anne x #32

Lovely view .... folks working, green background, lots to look at...
You can't 'do' much in the garden now anyway - wrong time of year to cut back and down, perfect time to let the brambles take over. Collect the blackberries and THEN cut it all back!!!!
You continue to look after yourself, YOU'RE the important thing round here.

I do hope you feel more yourself soon. Being out of sorts is never any fun, unless of course you are being pampered and that can be not SO bad! Lovely to have friends though and fret not, every year at this time my garden starts to look rather over grown jungle style too!

Sorry that you're not feeling too well still but how nice is it to have willing friends? I don't know how I know it's your birthday! Facebook perhaps! Yeah, I didn't understand the post either. The envelope was completely filthy too, not damaged just so dirty I had to was my hands after opening it! Hope the photo-booth set up goes well!

Hi Julia, I was hoping you were beginning to feel a bit more like your perky old self again but seems not. I wouldn't worry about your mojo - it will return when you're good and ready. Lovely to see the girls working away there - hope the do goes well. As for your garden, snap! The weather here, sunshine interspersed with showers, has just encouraged growth, of grass and weeds as well as the roses. Think of it as a wildlife haven :) Take it easy and hope you feel better soon. Hugs, Elizabeth x #47

My yard is pretty bad, too. Mostly because the rain won't stop and let the yard dry out long enough for me to mow. At this rate I'll have to bale!

Take your time coming back, Julia. You'll get there when you are ready :-) Hugs!

Thanks for your visit, Julia, and I'm glad you like what I did with your bike die cut! It came out really well. As for the diet, I am very pleased with such an encouraging start, and also that it is so easy to maintain the routine of the 5:2 plan - eating normally all the rest of the week makes all the difference, and the reduced calorie intake really isn't that bad.

Regarding the kitchen roll, these days I never throw anything out without first asking myself, "Can I make art out of this?" lol! Watch this space and see what I do with the piece of kitchen roll. It will make a great background! I think I'm turning into the Recycling Queen of the South West!

Enjoy your week and thanks for letting me sneak back in here ;D

Oh I know what you mean about the weeds, my mom and step-dad were here for a week and we are still trying to catch up on all the yard work that has fallen behind. but it was 97 yesterday here and so it was very much a retreat to the only space with an AC at our house is the hobby room. ~Stacy #63

What fun. We experienced our first photo booth at a wedding we recently attended. My husband wanted to keep going back! Your back yard looks just like mine. There is a term for that look - it is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. :-)

Hi, Julia! What a fun collaborative time you've shared today. Glad you've got helping hands to move your photo booth project along. I think the will to craft is a "higher need" -- sort of like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, where until your basic needs are met, higher functions aren't possible? Until you're completely well and rested, not just from your surgery, but from being on vacation, too, I wouldn't worry too much about your missing mojo. {{{hug}}} ~Laura

Back again because I forgot to leave you my number Julia. I have been a bit on edge the last few days as we keep loosing our internet conection, they are relaying a main cable apparently and we may only be on-line for part of the day. I know you would prefer to be doing the crafting yourself but you can just sit and enjoy the company, send out orders if necessary Lol!
Happy crafting, when you feel in the mood, Angela x #48

Had to miss WOYWW this week, a holiday weekend in the states and tragic weather put me way behind. Lots of picnics, parades, family gatherings and fireworks. Love your big bright window scene and all the fun you are having with the gathering of friends.Yard work will get done, and you need to mend. Best Wishes

Hi Julia, it's good to see you have the company of other crafters whilst you are still on the mend. Forget the green growth outside it will get done one day, whenever, this I also have a problem with as I have been on the road for the last week. I have not posted today, I did get a photo then had to race out the door for work again down to Sandy,s area Geelong. I was also trying to get a shot of Yoda but he did not surface, so now it will have to wait until tomorrow actually now today Thursday. I will still post. So I'm popping in now but you can visit me yet. Have a great week

Your "do" looks like it's going to be a blast!!
My word of caution on the garden: My lily beds had gotten a tad weedy, and with our cooler start they hadn't bloomed yet...I went out Sunday to check; and Hubby had mowed them down...blade to dirt...I'm torn to being sick and being relieved I don't have to weed..the bulbs are still there, right?

Wednesday has come and gone and I did not manage a post...life has got in the way again. It is the 3 week winter school hols here in SA and nothing is normal. I am still trying to work while shipping my son of to friends left right and centre...hence not being at home to blog in my usual time slot and then by the time I realised it was Wednesday it was 10pm and too late!
