What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 237

There are 'how to' and 'why you should' WOYWW links at the top of the page.  It's all much easier than it reads...have a go!

Now gentle reader, I don't think that I've hesitated to post a desk shot.  Not in 236 weeks. Rather, I revel in being the one that makes your teeth and fngers itch to come over here and tidy up.  It makes me laugh ah ha ha ha to think of all the intakes of breath that my 236 photographs may have caused.  This week then, is no different.  Except, even I'm not laughing.  I too, need - and badly - to establish some order so that I can get on.  I won't whine about the five minutes here and there between everything else - we're all busy.  I won't put the argument about creative genius.  I don't have that burden.  I'm thinking of asking Mr Dunnit to stop asking me to help in the Joinery and let me make a door.  To hang in the doorway between this room and our lounge room.  To replace the one that I made him take off after we put my desk in here, so that I could sort of be in the lounge with him, but at my desk too. I need to hide this from myself, let alone my holiday guests.  If ever there was a time for me to be visited by a Christmas miracle......

It's safe to show - these slightly decorated Cosmos are for my girlfriends.  They will have received them at our Christmas supper on Tuesday evening.  For that is when this photo was taken.  I haven't made them cards. * Insert whiney voice*:  I can't do anymore.  I just can't.
So now sweet friends, show and tell your own desk...horror stories will make me feel very comfortable.  Also, if you comment - please tell me...should we risk #238 next week or postpone?  Madness, I tell ya....

Hey, I'm #1, whoop!

Awww, don't worry about the lack of cards, I'd rather have a decorated Cosmo any day. :-)

I was wondering what would happen next week, picturing myself trying to make desk visits while the family is opening presents, lol. It might be much more sensible take the week off.

And don't worry about the mess, it really doesn't look bad at all from here. :-)

Happy Woyww and Happy Christmas,

Your desk isn't bad at all. I've definitely seen worse. You should see mine when I'm working on more than one project. #6

Oh I'd like to try a COSMOS...bet it's good. I've the same wrapping paper! AND some areas of my house are worse today than my desk or yours. Do I see twinkling lights as a reflection, or outside frostiness?
#238 is your call Julia... weather decides our time together here.
Anyway enjoy the time leading up to the events.

Oh, yummo, I think you have a festive my-kind-a-mess desk today, Julia! But I'm over here itching my own teeth, so I can sympathesis with you. The handmade cards are done and I'm signing and addressing the last of the photo cards by tomorrow night. Then I'm bringing in the shovel and the fire hose and going to town on the rat's nest. God knows what I'll find in there. I just hope it won't be a stack of cards that didn't get mailed!! Oooof, that nearly made me faint.

Happy Christmas to you and the hunky carpenter and darling daughter! I won't be able to play next week as we'll be away for a couple of days.

Second question is: Will you be hosting a hop on New Year's Day? If so, I'll see you then and we'll get down to some serious drinking games!! Thank you with love, Darnell #10

Not a bad mess at all, Julia. The cans are pretty. If you'll open the link I'll post as no company for me this year. And I'll visit through the weekend anyone that does link up. Have a Merry Christams! Hugs Nan 14

It's good to know you're busy and having trouble keeping up too. Never cringe, just keep on doing what you can as you can and it all will sort out.
If you post, I'll be here. It's the evening that I take down my booth from the 6 week holiday show, so it should be a great messy studio shot. :)

Merry Christmas and thanks for bringing us WOYWW.

I was wondering about next week too. You post it, I'll play LOL
We are putting off our celebration until the weekend so the whole family can be here.
Always love your desk, sorry I'm not the tidying type, but I will put everything back where I found it once I'm finished playing with it. LOL
I'll say Merry Christmas now incase you decide not to post next week, like the rest of us you could use a break too.

I Love your desk! What is a cosmo? I've never heard of it here in the States??
I know I feel like I can't do any more Christmas too, and I still have to get my tree up - nothing like rushing things!! I think we should take next weds off too. Have a happy holiday and Joy Filled Christmas!!

Oh don't know what a cosmo is but I am sure I would like it much more than a card.. Love your desk its all christmas themed this week.

Oh, I so know where you are coming from. Right at this minute, I never want to do another Christmas, not ever, not no how. I hate my design and I hate doing over 130 of the wretched things. As far as my desk is concerned, I now have two boxes full of the stuff that I removed on two occasions to allow me too work without tidying up properly. My two desks are still both unworkable on. Wednesday next week has to be totally your choice. If you are here, I will join you, but I totally respect your right to have a week off to relax. Whatever, have a Happy Christmas. xx Maggie #25

Hi Julia, and what pretty Cosmos they are - I am sure they went down a treat and the girls won't have minded not having cards as well. I think you deserve a week off next week - I'll be away and unable to link up and would hate to miss out on the fun! Helen 28

Deep breath and repeat after me...."I can do anything but not everything"

Also I think I cracked the card issue this year, after the year I have had I have a new saying "in the scheme of things...." when things don't get done!

Hope your head is ok after a night with the girls.

I too am wondering what a Cosmos is and I live in the UK! Probably alcohol I suppose as I don't partake!

Anyway as for hosting on Christmas Day, would you be able to schedule a post so you don't have to think about it, I have already done one - LOL. Then of course the following Wednesday is New Years Day, are you pondering that one too?

It was quite quiet last year for Boxing Day but it still went ahead so I'd say leave it as it is.

Thanks for all your hard work doing WOYWW it is truly amazing and keeps my blog going.

A desk full of cosmos Mmm sounds inviting. I intended to send lots more cards to work dealers this year.... Didn't happen dam those colds .... Yep another one. Next week sounds like we could all do with a week off... I have 8 for lunch and another 3 afterwards my desk would be full of spouts hehe you could always risk doing WOYFTT. What's on your festive table Tuesday ...or one word Wednesday photo and just one word but thinking about that .... Is one word enough
Have a great restful festive season

Poor Julia, trying to do that womanly thing and make Christmas perfect. While you are eating lunch, so it doesn't take any unallocated time, run through, in your mind, all those things you feel you must achieve between now and Christmas day. If you did none of them, how many would your family really miss? And how many are superwoman ambitions driven by the telly or magazines? Cut out the commercial driven perfect and leave time for love.
Now I have no idea what a Cosmos is, haven't a clue but they look festive.
As for 238, a quick message of Christmas greeting on 24th with Mr Linky option and people can make their own posting any time over Christmas day and Boxing day.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to continue my superwoman impression.
Bless you

Your friends know you are a crafter-yes. They should know that crafters are creative and may leave some untidiness behind them. I always take the view, if you are coming to look at how clean and tidy my house is instead of spending time with me then don't bother coming. I won't be playing next week as we are out for Christmas dinner.

A tad untidy Mrs D but lovely and festive.

Your desk is a working desk and always has something of interest for those of us who are nosy and come to take a peak - unlike those pristine showrooms that you see on some forums that look like there has never been a piece of CS or PP cut within a mile of it.

Have a wonderful Christmas Julia.

Hi Julia, you're desk looks nothing but festive to me and, given that those Cosmos have now been removed and consumed, I visualise it a lot clearer this morning - unlike your head if those Cosmos are as alcoholic as I think they are :) I hope you get some downtime soon so that you can relax and enjoy the festivities. Hi Julia. Great festive desk, I'm sure no one looked passed the decorated cans...... whatever you decide next week is fine. If you post I'll probably post too, after all, there's always a relaxing window of opportunity to go online in my home on the day. If you don't, have yourselves a merry little Christmas!

Not a clue what a Cosmos is but they look festive enough with the colours of them.
At first I thought "post next Wednesday" thinking that there might be people who live on their own and it would be a bit of company for them but then I realise YOU deserve a break. Over to you to decide, not much help am I - a bit of a ditherer really.
Anyway, in case you don't - thank you for a year of fun and friendships again Julia, may you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and my very best wishes for the New Year.

I think one of the reasons we all like WOYWW is because it is so familiar. I finally just had to stop on Sunday afternoon and clean stuff up. I couldn't find anything, paper was getting ruined and my work space as down to about an 8" x 8" area.
My girlfriends don't get cards either...they don't seem to mind. Hope you get time to enjoy this week.
Hugs.

WOW I thought I was the only one with a cluttered desk and room...just joking it is trait I share with the sisters here on WOYWW! I would say to put up a short post and let folks post if they would like to...or not. I know two Wednesdays in a row being major holidays can cause issues to anyones well made plans. Hope you have a happy day and enjoy time with family and friends. Vickie #47

If your desk were neat and tidy things would not be right in the universe. I look forward to seeing your wonderful messes. Don't know what a Cosmo is but I'm sure it is yummy. I'm out for a few weeks at least, we have everyone to our place on Christmas day and painting little misses room in the holidays.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, I'll be thinking of you in the cold :)

Not such a messy desk considering the date! I have to keep things put away and pieces of left over paper put away cause I lose things if I don't. I guess I'm just too scatterbrained. Have a wonderful Christmas and I agree with some of the others. Put up a quick post and let everyone do their thing. I will be alone on Christmas day but don't know if I will be around or not.

So fun! I think those ladies are so very lucky! Very busy on your desk. I am doing ladies gifts to these past few days. I still haven't made my family their cards (insert head smack!). I took off tomorrow and Friday from work, so you know one thing I will be doing. Weds. is Christmas and I am cooking and then running to my sisters afterwards. So, I want to wish you and Mr. Dunnit a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2014! Winnie #51

Cosmos!! Not flowers! They look bright and cheerful and I know they will have been enjoyed.
Leave the choice of when 238 to you but you post it and I will play it. I go out for Christmas day lunch and then come home and sit in front of the TV .... the same on Boxing day but different venue so my laptop will be switched on.
Have a happy Christmas whichever way you decide ... oh! Put a curtain up across the doorway, or a pretty piece of material.
