Get a cuppa,

and do what I did last night...........nothing particularly shocking but oh my, well overdue; and I'm guessing it's the same for the majority of scrapbook and journal crafters.
I'm conducting a Workshop tomorrow morning and wanted to take a couple of my scrapbook pages with me in an amateur attempt to illustrate what we're going to be doing. I have, since about 2003, amassed all of 4 completely full albums and I have another couple with LOs in that I did for product demo purposes and so haven't quite got my head round whether they are really 'mine'!
We are all our own worst critic I'm sure, and although lots of us blog lots of the things that we make, I think we are all still relatively modest. It's a nice thing. So imagine trying to pick just a couple of LOs to have to show off. It forces you to look deep into the abyss of your collection I can tell you! And guess what? I really enjoyed myself. The lovelies were in the same room watching TV and eventually had to give in and join me in the exclamations and 'remember this' type remarks. Truly, I've scrapped, looked at the page for a few minutes, possibly photographed it to put on this blog and then put it in an album, and I can't remember the last time I looked through them. I've flicked impatiently through one or other album looking for something in particular to show (as at Christmas when Miss Dunnit's Godparents wanted to see the Prom layouts). Set aside the massive differences in your 'style' then and now, and the creeping use of embellishments and computer aided stuff, that's another post entirely. It was a pleasure, and collectively, we enjoyed the re-visiting of some really special stuff, and perhaps for me, more importantly, we laughed at some very everyday stuff too. The power of scrapbooks. Somewhat diluted if you don't look over them once in a while. Make a resolution to do it this weekend. Go on. Have a lovely time.
The card - made with Papermania papers and stamps from Stampington & Co.

I love the way that going back over our scrapbooks brings memories flooding back.
Anyway you asked for it LOL I've added my cardmaking efforts to my blog http://craftamongthelandrovers.blogspot.com/2010/01/more-completitions.html

It won't take me long ... I think I have made about 5 pages in my life :0) Still with you at the helm and steering my mini book exploits ... this time next year and who knows.
As for us being our own worst critics ... you are so right ... but I really believe it is because we never reach that picture we have in our heads at the outset ... and others are more easily pleased because they were not in on the big plan :0)
Have a good time tomorrow X

I have had a cardboard box of photos in my living room for about 3 years now (its tucked under a table at the back of the room) which I made my husband bring down from the loft. I bought albums, paper and of course I have plenty of DCWV stacker quotes, embelishments etc ready to do it... my trouble is procrastination. OH keeps threatening to take the box back up the loft but I won't let him - because I'm going to need them. Ha! I ocassionally bore my friends to death with pictures that mean nothing to them - but add a bit of ribbon and some journalling and I think it may soon bring about some interest (I'd hope)... one day. Maybe I need a trip to your neck of the woods to attend a crop or one of your classes Julia???

Happy scrapping,

It sounds as though you had a wonderful "trip down memory lane" via your scrapbooks. One day I will (maybe) get into scrapping proper and increase the collection of LOs I've done from their current 1 and a half - the half because I'm not happy with it and can't decide what's wrong, so I can't call it finished yet.

Maybe I'm just too tentative about this whole scrapbook lark. or maybe it's just that the pages are so darn big!

I'm so glad your family enjoyed the trip down Memory Lane that scrapbooking can bring. I need to wander through my memories again, and sort the pages into some sort of order whilst I'm at it.
My problem is that I can fill a scrapbook a year, and what's worse than boring one's friends with a box of old photos? Boring them with five scrapbook albums!

Never tried scrapbooking, somehow I don't feel that I would be very good at it. I did wonder about it after our first cruise, but never took the plunge!
You make me wonder if I should try!

Do you know, I am so going to do this. I'm sure it will get me actually making something - I'm itching to sit down and make something, first time I've felt like that in a couple of months. Hope I havent forgotten how!

I love visiting my scrapbooks in a way I never did with boxes of photos - know just what you mean. Where did you get that teacup stamp set and saying - I MUST have it!

I would be embarrassed to tell you just how many scrapbooks I've filled - about 9 on the grandchildren alone, and the oldest is only 4!! But yes, every time, revisiting those books is such a joy - even my other half loves to get out the albums of holidays past (yes I make one for every trip) and look at them.

Do you know what? I've only filled one album. I got very despondant about my scrapping last year - I think I lost my way a bit. But have ordered some more photos as Craig has atually asked me to start scrapping again. So who am I to argue? I do love looking at my one album though - you are right there.
